I got mine at Napa # 4911 its an SKF seal. Glad to hear the belts worked and if you type in hy-2 in the search on main page it'll give you several excellent posts of rebuilding the hy pumps including my post also

Is the 4911 a SKF number or the NAPA number?

This is what came up on line at NAPA. The part I think I need is the metal plain bearing..? My shaft has a lot of play up and down.

Its the Napa number on the box but its just a seal. my pump didn't have a bearing it was just the casting that my pump shaft runs thru . Maybe someone put a bushing/bearing in yours

B-44 on the hydrolic Parts list for HY-2 shows it but is just says seal and look like a metal bushing?

From what I've seen it's just a seal. Maybe it's just how they drew seal to make it look like a bushing. Mine was a little loose but a seal fixed the leak.

its just a seal, very small one though. the one in the pic below is black all over, but i had one that was a natural metal case with the lip seal the normal material.

they are the same seal as what is used on the brake shaft on the early sundstrand hydros.....

this is the back side to show the lip.....

yep that is the right one in the second pic.....

i used a piece of pipe just over .5" id and od just a little less than the od of the seal to install it....

squared and dressed the end of the pipe so i didnt damage the seal. they are fun to install without pulling the shaft. ive done one either way on the pump and without removing the shaft on the sundstrand brake shaft seal. the sundstrand one still leaks....... :angry-cussingblack:

hard to get the old one out too.....

Steve,

The seal in that picture is the correct one. It looks deceiving from the outside but when you remove the old seal you'll see how it fits.

I was doing some cleaning today in my office and found an Ecomomy hydro pump that I forgot I bought and have not yet installed on my tractor. Come to find out it is the same pump except for the handle. On the economy pump the handle screws into a thread and on the 953 it is a flat handle that is held on with 2 screws. Thought that pump looked familiar !

So Steve did the seal stop the leak? I've got a 953 that reminds me of an old Harley it marks its spot in the garage floor. That's my next project is to get the oil leaks stopped.

I tired to install the seal and ended up messing it up. I then tapped the bushing in a little further and it tightened up the shaft and so far no leaks without the seal. I cannot see how the seal actually stays in place since there is really little to no room for it to stay in place. I will keep my eye on it for leaks.
