M886 0 #1 Posted July 8, 2012 Hi Folks, I have a 1974 C-100 with a 42" side discharge deck on it. I have to replace one of the lower spindle housing due to a crack. Does anyone know if a 42" rear discharge deck off a 111-6 would have the same spindles. Also would the rear discharge deck mount on my C-100. I've been looking for good used spindles locally but haven't come across any yet in CT. Also I am new to forums and may not be using the right text or methods, so I would like to apologize in advance. Thanks for any help Pete 68 Commando 74 C-100 77 Dodge M886 Power Wagon
Sparky-(Admin) 21,850 #2 Posted July 8, 2012 The 42"RD deck will not mount up to your C-100 but maybe if you swapped the mounting apparatus off the 42"SD to the 42"RD it might. Alot of these decks share the same (similar) deck shell but have different mounting styles. Do you have pics of the two decks we could see for comparison? I'm not familiar with the 111-6 machines. Where are you in Ct? Mike............... :WRS:
M886 0 #3 Posted July 8, 2012 Hi Mike, I have a picture of the 111-6 tractor but it has to be cropped to fit and can take a picture of my deck. I don't own the 111-6, I was thinking of buying it for the parts I might be able to salvage. I live in Plainville and contacted you once on ebay about a loader I saw in the background on one of your auctions. It was the only one you had at the time.I will work on pictures and post them as soon as I can. Thanks for contacting me so quickly. My wife is out back with the Lawnboy right now and is not a happy camper, Pete
M886 0 #4 Posted July 9, 2012 Had a problem with my computer freezing up last night trying to edit pictures. Try again today. This is a picture of what the fellow told me was a Wheel Horse111-6. When I tried to put the picture in yesterday it was to big and was downsized to the little picture. Also a front and rear picture of my deck. The broken spindle housing is what I am hoping would fit from the other tractor, or the complete spindles. I found the replacement spindle on ebay for about $100. for a new one. but I would rather find a used deck to salvage or just used parts in general.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,850 #5 Posted July 9, 2012 OK, after seeing the pics I'm sure you can use the RD deck off the B-111 if you were to install hanging hardware like your SD deck has off the C-100. Might have to drill it for mounting holes. The PTO drive belt that spins your SD is probably not going to work on the RD either Wrong length. Or if your not up to that challenge: I have hanging hardware and I might even have a complete spindle assembly off a 42SD I scrapped a couple years ago. The shell was totally rotted away. I would need to check as I haven't seen the deck parts in along time, but dont remember selling then either. Mike............
M886 0 #6 Posted July 10, 2012 Hi Mike, If you have those deck parts and spindles I would be interested in purchasing. If I thought the rear discharge deck had the same spindles as mine I would buy the 111-6 tractor and strip it for parts. I just don't need another one laying around. I also have another RD deck 32" that I was looking at putting my lift on. You can see it in the picture off to the side, It did look like it would work but I thought I would hunt down the spindle first and use that as backup. Thanks for your help, Pete

Kelly 1,030 #9 Posted July 15, 2012 Make sure you look at the blades, the 48" deck in the pics with the missing spindle uses the old style blades double D with a bolt holding them on, the 42" RD deck I think you will find has the blades with the 3/4" hole and nut holding them on, the spindles will swap but blades and pulleys on top will be wrong. M886 0 #10 Posted July 17, 2012 I found out they are not all created equal. I took a few more pictures of my spindles that show the difference that Kelly was talking about. My spindle is threaded on the inside on the top and the grease fitting is in the lower body section. Also blade is bolted on the bottom the same as the pulley on the top. The pulleys are also cast iron and a larger diameter. Still looking. Thanks, Pete
