Valspar Restoration Series Paint

Recommended Posts

JackC

As has already been mentioned, Valspar no longer does business with Tractor Supply.

The restoration series paints are still available from Valspar through Valspar dealers.

If you order it you need to buy it by the case. For the gallons a case is two gallons. For the spray cans , a case is either 4 or 6 cans.

Curtis Lumber in upstate New York called Valspar for me and they can get it.

If you want it right away you pay the shipping. If you can wait for the Valspar dealer to place an order for other reasons then there would likely be no shipping.

"Valspar dealer" not like a Glidden or sherwin willians paint store...by the internet company website. looks like Lowes only in this area. not sure if the folks there will order it. Has anyone tried yet? under my other thread post, the Majic paint at TSC spray cans...color looks spot on. spray nozzle: crap. sent e-mail to Majic.

I contacted the Lowes in Hazleton and Wilkes Barre and neither store told me they would order it. Not by the can, case, or truckload. THey told me they sell only Valspar residential and commercial paints, the tractor stuff is considered an Industrial coating for some reason. I still have a Lowes in Bloomsburg but havent had the chance to speak with someone there yet, but I'd expect the same story from them

Thanks for checking Jeff,

box stores and including TSC are becoming more and more not helpful. I have a great old ACE at the bottom of my hill but they dont stock valspar. will keep looking. and if a place has valspar they will of course stock JD green or Kubota orange but no IH-Red.

I checked with a sales person at Lowes and she said if their stores do not carry it they will not order it.

You need to find a smaller dealer like Curtis Lumber that caries Valspar and values customer service.

Forget Lowes even though they are a Valspar dealer.

Maybe if you know the manager you can get him or her to order it.

Valspar is in trouble and has really cut its staff. They are focusing on their large OEM business and not doing a fantastic job at that either. I have been with Sherwin-Williams for 27+ years and some of the easiest OEM customers we win over were former loyal Valspar customers. They have major customer service and supply issues. Good for us we have added some very good quality former Valspar employees.

I sent an email to Valspar through their website about their Restoration Series paint and got a personal email response from a nice lady listing the little stores in my area that are Valspar dealers who might carry it. She also gave me the phone number for their Consumer Relations Group at - 877-825-7727. She said perhaps they could be of further assistance...

Myself, I'm thinking about Rustoleum. or perhaps biting the bullet and seeing how good the available acrylic lacquers are. I open air sprayed a lot of lacquer as a young teen and it was extremely forgiving - plus you could always make it look good.

Do you have a paint # for an I.H.Red match thru Sherwin Williams? My brother in law works for their automotive paint division and I can get a nice little discount.

Not Sherwin-Williams, but PPG actually has "Wheel Horse Red" in their computer. Found this out from "buckrancher" after I had my NOS hood color-matched to a General Motors shade of red.

I put in my zip and Lowe's is the only name that came up. They cannot order it. So I contacted Valspar for an alternate source and was informed that Restoration Series is no longer being made. Other Valspar paints are available but not Restoration.

Lane, if you have any different info, please let me know.

Robert,
Thank you for contacting Valspar regarding our Restoration Series of paint.  Unfortunately, that product line has been discontinued.  We still carry the Tractor & Implement series of paint and you can have any Valspar dealer special order the paint for you, as well as Lowe's Home Improvement stores.

If we can be of further assistance, contact Consumer Relations at 877-825-7727.

Ok guys -looks like Bob, Mike and Scott are all correct that the Valspar Restoration Series has been discontinued.   Only enamel tractor paint now.   My hardware must have had old stock.

Mr. Ralph,

Thank you for contacting Valspar. Unfortunately the restoration series in the tractor and implement coatings are no longer being manufactured. The only Tractor and Implement products we are currently manufacturing are the enamels. If you require additional assistance, please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Group at 877-825-7727 or myself at the number below.

Seems the E.P.A. Didn't like the hardener that was in the restoration series rattle cans and the formula for resto series quarts and gallons must not have been up to the enviroweenie standards. And T.S.C. Gave in so to speak. Just my opinion, unsubstantiated but likely the case.

Personally I was never really impressed with Valspar Restoration series. I'm content with Rustoleum farm and implement I think it's called. It goes on nice and wears well. And it's available 1 mile from home.
