One way to flush a hydro and lift system!

Got an ugly 73 16 Auto hulk at the show to get the trans to use as a spare that I hope I never need. It came with ATF in it. If and when I use it it will have Mobil 1 10W30 in it.I wanted to kind of test the hydro and flush before I pulled it. I blocked and chained the 16 chassis so ti wouldn't move and jacked up the rear. I hooked up My C-160 thresher style to the hydro pulley. Ran it at about 1800 RPM for like 10 min. moved the motion lever back and forth and the wheels were turning. Moved the lift lever back and forth and the cylinder moved. I drained the ATF and it came out pink like some moisture had gotten in it.Removed the filter and replaced it with a WH filter that had like 10 hours on it. Filled it with some Dino 10W 30 I had left over laying around since I use all synthetic now. Ran it for another 10 min and drained. Looked like Mango juice. Filled it with fresh 15W 40 on sale and ran it for 20 min. I'm letting it sit overnight and will drain again to see if any ATF remains.

Oil leak at hose at lift control. Pretty good size drip but I know oil is flowing!

Oil filter read 99 deg after 20 min. Frame next to it read 84 deg

Looks good, I think you should be just fine with your flush. One thing I did to flush a system was to drain all the fluid, reinstall the drain plug. Then I removed the return line from the filter (eaton only) and installed a hose to the drain plug. dumped in 3 qts of mobil 1 and ran the trans through all speeds and ran the lift in and out tell the rear end didn't spin any longer. Reinstalled the return line and added about 4 1/4 qts more and changed the filter. This trans had dextron in it and there is no evidence of any pink fluid in it know. Lifts instantly know in winter also. It used to take about 2 min. for that when there was snow on the ground. this only works on the on the eatons and not the sunstrands.

Good topic....one heck of a belt there.

It's the spare belt for my 42" RD deck. :banana-wrench:

I was going to say, "it looks 8 ft long," but it probably is.....lol... :)...or close to it anyway. For some reason that one pic makes it look unusually long.
