Sparky-(Admin) 21,083 #2 Posted June 28, 2012 Looks like belt might to to long from the pics and nothing you do will get you the tension your after if thats the case. I've never owned a sickle mower but you just stab that small pedal attached to the main pedal to release it and the idler pulley moves towards you and provides tension. Mike............ buckrancher 2,679 #3 Posted June 28, 2012 you are missing the spring that runs from the petal back to the tractor frame under the belt cover Brian belt should be a 1/2" x 34" long
sorekiwi 761 #4 Posted June 28, 2012 Here are pics of mine, first shot is disengaged, the second is engaged: It looks as though you are missing the tension spring that goes from the PTO pedal to the frame (attaching to the frame below the "502" decal in this pic: The arm that the tensioner pulley is attached to is behind the pulley on mine, I'm not sure how yours lines up with the way you have it. CasualObserver 3,407 #9 Posted June 29, 2012 If you have that spring on in the original picture, then it must not be in the right spot. It should be visible. Can you post a pic of where you have the spring? And you belt looks like it has way too much slack. Are you sure of the belt measurement? Try measuring from your crankshaft center line to the sickle pulley centerline for others to compare to.
CasualObserver 3,407 #10 Posted June 29, 2012 You could also just measure and figure out what size belt you need with this. http://www.roadlessg...ngth/index.php3 Use the second calculator.
