Lars 526 #1 Posted June 26, 2012 Hey im waiting to get the suburban epoxyprimed.. So i took apart the 8 speedtranny Rooster put in the crate whit the suburban.. it has a 1 inch Axel and a 4 pinndiff... so here are some pict of how it looked.. Ill started to get of the oil on the tranny, but it came only water... whit some rustycolor... so i took it apart and well.. All the gears seems to be in realy good shape.. the 1533 bearings was stuck:( but the other bearing are ok.. so ill started whit a clean up job to see if there was anny broken parts innside it.. and here is how it looks now and what i found.. Hi/low Shifter was good too but not the other shifter fork,, The 1533 bearings spinns easy and good now. i might need some seals and a shifterfork. i will try to weld it and see.. but i think it is castiron.. Duff 206 #2 Posted June 26, 2012 Just my humble opinion, but I'd replace the shifter fork rather than try to weld it. They're not terribly expensive and I'm not sure how a weld would hold up under the stresses inside the tranny. Duff
