bowtiebutler956 650 #26 Posted June 21, 2012 A quick mock up of the Commando Eight for duals. Yay or nay? Those tires look to wide to me, but with some narrower tires, and the inside wheels flipped around so they tuck underneath the tractor better. Then I think they would look great! AMC RULES 37,124 #27 Posted June 21, 2012 Kinda figure they have the Fred Flintstone, steam roller look to 'em...huh Matt? Me too.
bowtiebutler956 650 #28 Posted June 21, 2012 That's definitely a whole lot of tire Craig. Go for it, and maybe put an innertube under the front, and try driving on the water. Matt :flags-texas:

TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #32 Posted June 21, 2012 looks good tt, but the color of that one is what really making it look something special, very different and very nice....... Yeah..... the sheetmetal on that one was painted metallic maroon by someone in it's past. Most of the time it looks purple in pictures though. From a few weeks ago - on the job & with a better seat. :
1maidenfan 202 #33 Posted June 21, 2012 How 'bout just for the photo op then? Don't think I've ever seen one of the big D's sportin' duals before. Ok, photo op taken, results not that good. I didnt have an extra set of 12" tires and rims to put next to it so I used my set of 15" tires and rims that go on my 18 auto restore. ( I have two sets of these though ) So since the photo op didnt turn out as ecspected I have included some pic's of a couple new signs I have aquired. This is a 2 sided lighted sign, first pic is with lights on. This is with lights out. This is my D180 clock. Just thought I would share some pics. Thanks

1maidenfan 202 #37 Posted June 21, 2012 Yeah, I spose mocking up a monster D quickly, would be a challenge. Yes, especially when you dont have the right size tires. But I see a monster 18 auto in the future :eusa-whistle:
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #38 Posted June 21, 2012 Duals on a D series, huh? You might as well start stocking up on spare hydros and transaxles now. :hide:
1maidenfan 202 #39 Posted June 22, 2012 Duals on a D series, huh? You might as well start stocking up on spare hydros and transaxles now. I would have to agree, thats probably why no one does it. Might do it to my 18 auto restore since it will be a trailer queen not a worker.
sorekiwi 761 #40 Posted June 22, 2012 A quick mock up of the Commando Eight for duals. Yay or nay? I'm gonna go with Nay on that one - the tires are too wide, if they were 6-12"s I'd be getting hot right now!!!

AMC RULES 37,124 #48 Posted June 23, 2012 You know I met that guy today, what a wonderful man...was to generous, and encouraging when my 653's Tecumseh was acting like a little turd, and not starting. Of course...I can't remember his name now. Bummer! Said he painted that tractor blue because he installed a chinese made diesel in it...and didn't think it was right to leave it Wheelhorse red anymore, with it now having a foreign powerplant in it. Painted it blue to match the motor, and named it a combination of his three grandchildren's name's. Sorry, that's all I know about it.

AMC RULES 37,124 #50 Posted June 23, 2012 Guess I didn't realize at the time, just how much it stands out in a crowd. IIRC, his wife was driving it in the mid day parade too.
