bean 85 #1 Posted June 14, 2012 are 1" axles all the same, except for length? do they have the same spline count and are they interchangable? thanks
racinfool40 202 #2 Posted June 14, 2012 Bean, yes the spline count is the same on all...But some of the older axles are held in place by a roll pin and some are held in with a snap ring. Mike
bean 85 #3 Posted June 14, 2012 Mike, thank you. so, if I found an 8 spd trans of the same era(70s), the axles from my '73 4spd should fit?
racinfool40 202 #4 Posted June 14, 2012 Bean, I think most of the early 70,s - 6-8 speeds were 1-1/8 axles...I'm not positive but I think most of the 6-8 speed tranny's with 1" axles were in the 300 series tractors..I'm still trying to learn all the differences in the tranny's so maybe some one wit some more info will jump in..also if your looking to do a swap pay attention to were the brake drum is mounted some are close to the axle and some are located towards the front of the trans..if you do a search on the forum. There is some threads with info on the swap. I know Kelly and buckshot have done it and I have done it also. MIKE
bean 85 #5 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm pretty sure most of the c series were 1-1/8". I think the b series 8 speeds were 1". I'm not sure about the raider 8 spds

Kelly 1,029 #8 Posted June 22, 2012 I'm pretty sure the Raider 10's I have are 1 1/8" axles, they are 10 pinion diffs in them, I think all the 10 pinion diffs are 1 1/8"
