Novel clutch spring arrangement

Recommended Posts

Saw this at the weekend at our local vintage show. It's actually Michaels (thames1964) tractor....

It's a very novel way of fixing the clutch spring rubbing on the brake band and allows a lot of choice in spring length/tension.

Hi The angle iron bracket with hole in it on the quick attach is actualy meant for attaching the lift assist spring to help with lifting the rear tiller.

Cool, something else I was unaware of ! My snow plow mount does not have the angle, but I'm sure tempted to add a piece of angle and move the spring to improve the linkage!

Yes, amazing what you can learn on RS - my C-120 auto had one of these angle brackets when I got it.

Not knowing any better and thinking it was a bodge by a PO I took it off and replaced it with a bit of flat bar during the resto. :hide: Doh!

I must still have it somewhere - best see if I can locate it. It answers what the tractor had been used for apart from mowing as it also has the lift cable to raise a rear implement.

Thanks Larry
