Black hood alignment

Recommended Posts

Ok I spent a lot of time getting my hood on my C-175 to line up correctly with the hood stand. The first time I take it out to mow the hood pops out of place. Now I understand that it will do this when the tractor gets in a twist. Now the hood wants to stay this way. I replaced both rubber hood latches with new ones when I put it back together. Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you come up with a fix?

It doesn't realign itself once you're back on level ground?

That style hood has ALOT of adjustment at the hinges, I can't from here tell you what way to adjust it, but unlatch it, leave the hood closed, loosen the nuts that hold the hood to the hinge, wiggle them around a bit so everything relaxes, maybe pull the hood forward a little, tighten and try it out, sounds like the hood is a little to far back on the hinge.

I currently have two Black Hoods but have owned about 10 of them and the hoods have all closed a bit differently. They all needed a bit of tweaking.

Do you need to adjust them often? I had it fitting real good when I put it back together after painting. It's only been a few days since I finished the tractor.

This may be the dumbest question on the planet, but I'll ask it anyway....are you sure you tightened the hood hinges completely after you reassembled the machine? Ive been known to tighten them down just enough to allow for final alignment and then to wander off and forget to come back to snug them up!
