Getting Ready for the Big Show!!!!

Recommended Posts

So the Commando 8 is this years show model..... That happens to be my first tractor I ever purchased (at 13 no less)... I still have it and I got it autographed by Cecil at the 2008 Show, It will be making an appearance at this years show as a sign of tribute. I also have 5 others all needing restoration. I pulled the best two out of the five and am going to get them running and bring them for my kids to putt around on and to get the Commando 8 numbers up. I might haul my 877 too which is in the pic....

Can't wait to meet up with everyone...

Tony

Looks like a couple of your Commando's are drawing straws to see which one's wearing the bowtie at the big show.

ok who wants to take a guess at how many 1968 commando 8s will be there? last year there were 11 or 12 mabey c195s & the commando 8 was one of WH most popular models. I'm going to guess 27 including mine! Jay

Very good ... maybe we should start a thread on the over/under of commando 8's that will be in the picture at the show. I would say that is the only way you could really know. Hard to keep track..

She was tryin awful hard to push it over.... :banghead:

Ok... I'll spill the beans....

I let my son drive the 877 around and he must have gotten bored and stopped by stabbing the pedal. He got off and walked away.... tractor was running full tilt and started creeping---well it drove itself straight into a tree (no damage) and when I found it it was lugged down spinning the right rear tire trying to push about a 14" ash tree over.... I guess I didn't explain well enough to SHUT THE TRACTOR OFF AND PULL THE IDLER UP TO DISENGAGE THE TRANI..... everything ended up fine but man kids can drive you out of your coconut

From the sounds of things, there might be quite a few Commando 8's represented. There is one coming from Indiana! :)

2 yrs. ago I had a god running Commando 8 that looked like it went through a tornado! :scared-eek: If I had it still I could have brought it and would have gotten the ugly award. Especially with me sitting on it! :laughing-rolling:

Hi Neil.... usually its one tractor at a time in there.... but two of the four will not spend a night outside uncovered..... thats how they got squeezed in there. The other two im getting to run for the show.... yes its crowded but its only temporary. After all is a shop truly ever big enough? Even at 1000' x 1000' I would figure out how to have it packed!

Tony,

nice Chevy II/Nova. I miss my 72, it was my Dad's with a straight Six and Three on the tree! switched it out to a 3 speed auto later on but boy did that six banger shake! pehaps if you 'sell' it, you could put more Red in it's place! :D

I'm getting everything prepared this week for the journey to the big show myself. I'll be spending the most time on my truck to make sure she'll make it!

Nice Chevy Tony. This was my Father in Laws Chevy II back in the day. She did 10.30's at 133 with a wild 427, two fours thru a 4 speed.

You could have at least parked the horses a little better in that pic Tony. Its like you put one here and then put one there......

Hey Vin....

after several hours of cleaning, point filing, carb builds and so on I had them all running and is this better? It was easier to back them in one by one under there own power versus pushing them in to work on them. Matt said you and Brian will be making the show? I hope so and see you there.
