grecoll 0 #1 Posted June 6, 2012 Hello. I am new to this site and am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I am having with a traction belt. I just replaced the traction belt on my Wheel Horse 416XT and it smokes up by the PTO clutch as soon as the tractor is started. I checked and rechecked the alignment and do not see anything wrong. rexman72 210 #2 Posted June 6, 2012 hi and welcome to redsquare.Ok did you use a toro v belt thats 106-5813.I just changed mine on my 419xt.double check that the belt goes around the pulleys the proper way.you might want to take the belt back off and i know its a pain in the ass with the xt series and check to see that the pulleys are spinning free without the belt on. grecoll 0 #3 Posted June 6, 2012 Thank you for the prompt reply. I used the Toro belt referenced above and checked the pulleys before installation. I needed to replace the original belt because the pulley next to the idler pulley froze up and the old belt was severly worn. I have a service manual for the tractor and checked the alignment 3 times.
