illinilefttackle 399 #1 Posted July 15, 2008  Hey Guys-you know me-I'm the guy with a kohler engine with no crankshaft!-Somewhere along the line I mentioned I was leaving out the balance gears when I reassemble, can I just leave the stub shafts in there? Any real advantage to taking them out? Oil distribution? If so, what do I plug the holes with? Thanks- "AL THE SHAFTLESS" B)
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted July 15, 2008 The stub shafts can stay in, Al. The only one I ever removed was one that fell out and was laying in the oil pan! B)
Curmudgeon 28 #3 Posted July 15, 2008 Sure hope it's okay, that's what I did! :horseplay:
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,507 #4 Posted July 15, 2008 Al, When I rebuilt my K-321 I left out the balance gears (glad I did) and left in the stub shafts. After debating for a week or so and bouncing the idea(s) off members here I am convinced that leaving out the balance gears is the way to go, but the stubs don't hurt anything if they're in there.
