My Wheel Horse Puller

Recommended Posts

Tractor Addict

Wheel Horse hood, fenders, and whats left of the dash cowl, on a narrow cub frame with a Kohler Command. I had to make the actual dash tower. About 250 hrs of work in just the body and frame.

:scared-eek: That thing is a beast! :wicked: I agree, it has a really mean stance! It may not be a pure breed, but your definitely doing a great job representing :wh: !! :WRS: Hope you'll keep us updated on the progress. :text-datsphatyo:

Flames are too common. i was thinking some about some pin striping in a solid red. How do u think it will look with a stock decal

Welcome To RedSquare! Sweet tractor! Good idea to combine WH and CC! I think that pin striping with the red would look great! Also like the stock decal idea!

I have always heard that the stock cub rear end is not as durable but are upgradable with aftermarket parts, but I would not know.

I think the one big advantage is the fact that they are shaft drive with a clutch plate vs a belt. Funny thing is in industry you see a lot of big machinery being driven by belts with no problem, all in how the belts are set up.

Cub rearends are good for up to about 18 hp then the coarse spline axles are normally the first to break. The tractor in my pictures should be close to 50 or 60 hp so i will have pretty much all aftermarket parts in the rearend. Now after MTD bought out Cub Cadet form IH in the early 80's, they changed the rearends a lot. They started to put fine spline axles and two piece carriers in them and they changed the ring and pinion to a straight tooth rather than the spiral tooth that IH used. You can put that stuff in an old style rearend but you have to change the ring gear and the axle housings and one of the axle housings have to be machined to work.
