Just went to my local tsc and noticed valspar was on clearence. Next to that was a sign to "look for something new". Store associate said changing to majic paint?

AMC RULES

I see this all the time...

there always seems to be a need to discontinue quality products to make room for more of the crappy ones.

My TSC has already stocked the Majic paint. I havent been daring enough to try it yet. But comparing can to can....it just looks too cheap at $3.49 a can. The Valspar is more expensive than that on clearnace...lol ..... I'm still trying to find a couple gallons of the IH red along with hardner and stuff. I plan on shooting the RJ's and Suburbans with a spary gun when I redo them next.

That stinks that they are getting rid of it! It is a good paint. I guess we will have to stock up on what is left at my tsc store!

Is TSC the only retailer that carries it?

i would think that most of the 'farm' type store chains would carry it.

farm and fleet (in our area) carry both the valspar varieties....

maybe not for long though.....

Sherwin-Williams has a nice alternative available in gallons for IH red. When I get out of the hospital I will post the particulars of what it is called, how to use it and how to ask for it by number for those who may want to try it. It is not automotive paint but a good industrial version.

Thats a bummer, I know theres a lot of folks here that use it and depend on TCS as their supplier. I wish we had TSC here in AZ. When I lived in PA last year I used to go to the store in St Clair all the time and one day I was talking to a gentleman that worked there and he said that he had wanted to transfer to one in AZ so he could live near his son only to find that AZ is just about the only state in the union that doesnt have TSC. I really liked being able to go in there and buy just about anything I needed, maybe someday they will open some here. I hope that either they change their minds of hopefully someone else will step up and start carrying Valspar for yall. I know ACE Hardware here carries Valspar house paint. I wonder if they can or are willing to order it for you and at a price that will not be cost prohibitive.

If you are used to Valspar quality paint you will be highly dissappointed if you use the Majic paints. Majic dries very slowly and dulls very quickly. It wrinkles badly if you spray it just a touch to thick. It says on the can its made with soybeans!! Maybe thats why its crap!! Dono. Just wanted to give you a heads up. I used it fer awhile then switched to Rustoleum. Like they say you get what you pay for.

Well, my dad called me and he said that he was able to load up on the valspar paint from tsc. He was able to get 12 International Harvester spray cans, 9 John Deere spray cans, 8 Allis Chalmers spray cans, and 6 Cub Cadet spray cans. He said that it was on clearance. I am glad that we were able to get some before it was gone!

I thought I saw Home Depot carry Valspar as well..might have been Lowes. One of the two. I'd be sure if they don't stock the restoration series, thay can at least order it up. Be fore-warned though, it's said that some of the paint from big box stores, isn't the same as if you get it from a local mom and pop. (Glidden paint was one example). I've heard that about lawn fertilizer as well.

Happened to go by another TSC while picking up a part for my son's car. They had plenty of spray cans, gallons and thinner but no hardedner. I bought the thinner to go with the gallon I got earlier. I'm trying another local TSC for the hardener tomorrow.

I know Lowe's carries Valspar brand paint, but the only one local to me doesn't carry tractor paint. They carry rustoleum tractor paint but only for those green ones. Your mileage may vary.

Just got back from 4 different TSC stores. Got 15 cans of resto IH red and 2 gal of IH resto red with hardener and 3 thinners. Also primmer and low gloss black were on my list. I have 1 more store to visit tomorrow. All was 25% off plus they were having a sidewalk sale at 3 of the stores and they took off another 10%. I think my local hardware can get this paint also, but he said it would be about $9 a can for him to make a profit. He told me that he was the 3rd one in line to get this paint and thats why is so high on the price. Any way I cleaned out 4 stores today of red IH resto paint :hide:

I was at the local TS a few days ago. I figured I would pick up a can or two of IH red, but there was only one can left on the shelf. Seems like one of yous guys got there first!

I wasn't aware of the impending doom at the time, so I picked up the last can of Valspar, and a couple of cans of the new stuff (Majic?).

Dunno what the difference is, but I'm sure not going to loose any sleep over it. I mean come on, how much difference can there be? I know, I know, I am a blasphemer for broaching the subject.

Just because I was in TSC to get oil they had on sale, I picked up a can of Valspar paint for one of my horses. Now I've heard people rave about this paint but it doesn't hold a candle to Rustoleum. Even Krylon is better in my opinion.

Rustoleum has a heavy pigment that allows you to put down light coats wheras Valspar is only good for graffiti on railroad cars.

And that's all I've got to say about that.
