Is thier any redsquare members that are / were in to listening to black sabbath and possibly seen them live in concert back in the 80's or even the 70'S? Just wondering , I am a big fan was wondering if any one else is. Also wondering if the "philmore east" is in england?

The Fillmore East was rock promoter Bill Graham's rock venue on Second Avenue near East 6th Street in the East Village neighborhood of the Manhattan borough of New York City. It was open from 1968 to 1971, and featured some of the biggest acts in rock music at the time. The Fillmore East was a companion to Graham's Fillmore Auditorium, and its successor, the Fillmore West, in San Francisco, Graham's home base.

yes i am a fan,allways have been,seen them 3 or 4 times but never with ozzy,they put on a great show in the early eighties,wasnt as good as orig but still a great time,my first big concert was sabbath with deo at the vocals,but im a fan of the very early stuff,iron man rocks :thumbs:

Guessing you are an Iron Maiden fan as well. Saw them in concert, but a little young for Sabbath. (Wish I did see them though)..Treating people like pawns in chess, wait till their judgement day comes.

War pigs is one of my most favorite sabbath songs, I am to a little on the young side to have seen the original black sabbath. That said I did see them a few years ago on a reunion type tour. Grew up in the 70's and 80's listing to sabbath then ozzy, maiden , priest, dio, megadeth pretty much any heavy metal bands even man of war from across the big pond.( I think )

Still listen to all that to this day!

Thank you for that info, had no idea. Ozzy talked about the "old fillmore east" on one of his live albums. Can't recall which one but always wondered where that place was.

Yet another Sabbath goodie. Like yourself, I like the heavy stuff indeed. Watch for it, as I have heard the "big-4" were going to be doing a tour together....Megadeth,metallica,slayer,and anthrax. I have seen them all, just not together.

I believe I have heard that , although not sure they are coming to my area. Was in Germany back in the late 80's and early 90's, they had some great concerts over there. ( monsters of rock tours )

Oh ya! Iron maiden sooooothes the soul, atleast mine. LOL I believe I have seen Maiden in concert close to a dozen times, all time favorite band.

Glad to hear that, dave mustane(spelling?) is awesome, never should have been kicked out of metallica. I use to like metallica but now they are...well, not a band i like to listen to unless its the old stuff! First seen metallica with Ozzy, they opened for him. That was an awesome concert, search and destroy rocked the place!

I confess to be old enough to have seen Sabbath and lots of other big names in the late 60s and early 70s.

Back then it was still possible to see bands like Sabbath, Led Zep, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Alex Harvey etc etc at small venues and it didn't break the bank either. I was about 17 when a local pub, 'The Dagenham Roundhouse' used a hall adjoining the pub to set up what was called the Village Blues Club. I can't remember how much it cost to become a member but it wasn't much, neither were the tickets to get in. It soon became a famous as East London's top rock venue from 69 - through to the mid 70s.

I'm not sure if Sabbath ever played there but I certainly saw them at a larger London venue and at a festival or two. Those were the golden days when it all happened on the music scene and it was great to have experienced it first hand. Although music took a general dip to my mind as it moved into the 80s bands rose to fame that I liked including Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Metallica and the like, though with a young family on the scene and the ever increasing prices I never got to see them live. Still love my music today, still go to festivals with a tent from time to time like the Isle of Wight Festival which is quite local - highlight for me last year was seeing Foo Fighters on stage.

I was driving today and heard a song that I bet I havent heard in 8-10 years. Band name is Monster Magnet song name space lord. Wow not a band I listened to regularly but a few songs were pretty good.

First seen metallica with Ozzy, they opened for him.

That was the Master of Puppets tour. Cliff Burton died in a bus rollover accident in Europe on that tour.

See them about 13 years ago in concert. If you like that song, check out the album with "Black Balloon" on it.

Mustaine was a beligerant drunk and started fights w/ Hetfield all the time. He did write Kill em' all. IMO "rust in peace" was megadeths's finest work.

I stopped really listening to Metallica after the Black album. Has nothing to do with the hair length, just nothing new to knock my socks off. Still listen to all the old stuff in the shop.

If you guys like this stuff, check out Dream Theater. Very technical band all from MIT, a music collage. No 4-4 time on their albums.

Great thread. I live by this..."If it's too loud...you're too old". Have seen many of these bands, but I have to say I was most impressed by Rush (seen them twice)...their music in concert for 3 guys is something else. I have been to an early Kiss concert also...Priest opened for them...God of Thunder (Gene Simmons). :bow-blue:

Fairys wear boots and you gotta believe me!!!!!! Black Sabbath is one of my all time favorites!!!!! If you like that sort of music you should check out Clutch (10001110101is the name of the song)or Mastadon (Oblivion) and someone mentioned Dream Theatre (pull me under) they all rock hard and fast. The last good album for Metallica was And Justice for All In my opinion RIP Cliff Burton!!!!!

So do I and it's never too loud - I'm gonna rock till I drop!

I don't just live in the past though, lots of new bands have appeared on the scene as metal gained strength once again during the 'noughties'. Loads of bands I could mention but check out Bullet For My Valentine from Wales here in the UK. Watch and listen making a mental note of the legendary bands that have obviously influenced them.

I'm with you Guys/Andy on the 'Rock 'til you Drop'. Done a few Concerts in my time. Last one was at the O2 Area to see Queen and Paul Rogers (again).

Prior to that they were in Hyde Park 2007 which had been postponed due to the Bombing on the 7th. That show was the Best, as we had the Hospitality Package and were right by the Stage in a separate enclosure with food and Bar. The 68000 other people were on the other side of the Barriers. Razorlight were the 'Warm Up' session. Excellent night. ,

I also have many good Heavy Metal Tracks amongst others , but still go back to the late 60s & 70s for the likes of the 'Who' etc. 'Rock On' I say.

Melodic, but definitely edgy is Five Finger Death Punch, or just 5FDP...catchy name huh?

Always get's me where I'm going a lot quicker when I listen to 'em in the car.

I got tickets to the Rush concert coming in Sept. of this year, two towns over from where I live. How can I not go! They are the best progressive 3 man band I've ever heard of. (pro-pain is the hardest 3 man band on that note).
