520 H (1988) Won't move forward

Recommended Posts

Grandson called last night and said while mowing with my 520H the tractor "just stopped moving forward".

He used reverse and backed it all the way back to the barn.

Transmission oil was changed a month ago. Oil level is correct.

HELP !!!!

First off I would check all the linkages from the cam and observe if movement from the motion control stick is moving the linkage back to the tranny.

The cam under the seat may move but make sure nothing came apart under it where it transfers to the transmission. (Of course if the cam doesn't move at all in the forward range, you found the issue).

The motion control lever was bent on my 312-A at the cam, limiting the movement.

I had an similar issue with my 314H. I was mowing one day and the mower just stopped dead - I was able to limp back to the garage in reverse. My issue turned out to be a bolt inside the transmission/differential had come loose and jammed into the gears. I had a post on this but can't find it - the hardest part of fixing it was getting the hubs off the axle.

Found the problem.

The Motion Control Lever was broken off at the very bottom...right at the Cam Control bracket.

Took me 2 hours to remove all the parts to get at the broken piece...luck was on my side...there is a replacement listed on e-bay.

Thanks guys...

Marv
