kloe0699 12 #1 Posted May 15, 2012 I got the 417-A heated up today for a hydro filter/fluid change. I'm not sure what came out but I think it's light weight hydraulic oil. What should I do with it now?
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,332 #2 Posted May 15, 2012 Bring it to a auto parts store who will take it to recycle it.
AMC RULES 37,132 #3 Posted May 15, 2012 Whatever you do with it, don't slather it all over your tractor. :ychain:
kloe0699 12 #4 Posted May 15, 2012 Bring it to a auto parts store who will take it to recycle it. I mean the tractor Steve! Do I have to flush it before changing it to 10w30?
Sparky-(Admin) 21,350 #5 Posted May 15, 2012 How can you be sure its not old used up 10-30 that came out? ATF is reddish if that was what someone had put in it but I thought 10-30 and hydraulic oil looked almost the same. Mike............

It looks to be thinner than the used 10w 30 I drain out of my C-175.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,332 #7 Posted May 15, 2012 Opps ... I would think it is hydro fluid. I would fill it with 10/30 and install new filter. You should be fine. I am not sure how much is still left in there tho? The very best thing is to fill it with 10/30 then reflush to ensure you got it out 100% but that is a real pita. Good luck-
kloe0699 12 #8 Posted May 15, 2012 Ok, thanks! I'll fill it and give a new wh filter and change it again sooner than normal.
