Curmudgeon 28 #27 Posted July 13, 2008 Ahh..the bachelor life  . If I hung hung hub caps on my living room wall, parts of my anatomy would be hanging next to them For a glimpse of a bachelors home decor, check out my new thread.... :horseplay:
linen beige 14 #28 Posted July 13, 2008 Man! I didn't mean to start a huge debate! I have one old, slightly rusted set. The 8 incher fits the 8 inch front wheels on my 702 and almost covers the whole wheel. The 10 5/8 incher (9 7/16? flange) fits the 12 inch rear wheels and leaves some wheel exposed. Now, which styles were introduced when, and for which models? :hide:Perhaps a pinned info thread in the making? And not to get all technical, (perhaps I have been around too many old, old, old car collectors where this is a big pet peeve.) but these are WHEEL COVERS, Hubcaps are those smaller things that cover the hub. They have come to be called dust covers or grease caps.

You'll search all day for wheel covers, but you won't find any!

Curmudgeon 28 #35 Posted July 13, 2008 And not to add more confusion, but some are made of grey plastic now instead of steel... Kevin Great, I didn't know that! If you search for hub caps, take note of the price. Those little plastic caps that cover the end of the spindles only, that only cost a couple bucks, are called hub caps too. Curmudgeon 28 #36 Posted July 13, 2008 .....and some of the plastic ones had chrome emblems, and some had gold emblems. I don't recall ever seeing one, but some of the hubcaps I found also APPEARED to have a "plug in" logo? The hub cap was one number, the logo was another. TT-(Moderator) 1,147 #37 Posted July 13, 2008 The 1996 models had the plastic hubcaps with the 3D gold emblems stuck in the center. (for the 50th anniversary) Gold emblem on ebay. Other years had a chrome 3D emblem.

LOL Dale, My 520-H has those grey plastic hubcaps on it, and I don't like them either. When you scratch one it's white underneath and it really stands out.
