dgjks6 6 #1 Posted July 12, 2008 Do these fit on the 12 in rear tires - or is there another size? http://cgi.ebay.com/ORIGINAL-WHEEL-HORSE-N...1QQcmdZViewItem
DMESS 24 #2 Posted July 12, 2008 The ones that fit 12" wheels measure around 10". The ones pictured are 8" and 6". The 6" would fit the front of your 312 but you would still need a set of rears.
linen beige 14 #3 Posted July 12, 2008 From the pics they look to be 6" and 10". What would 8" fit?
BairleaFarm 340 #4 Posted July 12, 2008 Regardless of what they fit they are pricey little suckers arnt they.
kpinnc 13,754 #5 Posted July 13, 2008 From the pics they look to be 6" and 10". What would 8" fit? Those fit the 8 inch front wheels. They may even fit the 8 inch rear wheels such as those on a Lawn Ranger. Not sure of that though... As Dustin said earlier, the 6 inch ones fit the smaller 6 inch wheels that the older 300 series tractors used. The rear caps for the 12 inch wheels (10 inch?) are the ones that are hard to find. I know a couple years ago, both the 6 and 8 inch ones were still available from Toro, but the rears were NLA. Kevin
Curmudgeon 28 #6 Posted July 13, 2008 An 8" hubcap would fit a 10" wheel.
combatmp29r 27 #7 Posted July 13, 2008 Now hold on Dale. You mean after all my searching to find hubcaps for the 20x8.00-10s on the V8s all I needed were 8" hub caps?
Curmudgeon 28 #8 Posted July 13, 2008 B) What I said here proved to be partially wrong....
combatmp29r 27 #9 Posted July 13, 2008 son of a #$%^& I keep watching for 10" hubcaps not 8" ones. So if they measure 8" they will fit. Does that mean a 8" whell takes a 6"er and a 6" wheel takes a 4"??? Just checking
Curmudgeon 28 #10 Posted July 13, 2008 Yup Unless I'm wrong, and there is always a first time. And it was HERE!
kpinnc 13,754 #11 Posted July 13, 2008 I've got a set for 12 inch wheels, 8 inch wheels, and 6 inch wheels in a box somewhere around here for safekeeping. I bought them all new a few years ago. I keep planning to put them on a tractor, but they rust so fast that I haven't had the nerve to use them yet... I'll get them out and measure them. Now I'm a little confused myself... TT-(Moderator) 1,147 #12 Posted July 13, 2008 I think the most confusion comes when the hubcap is advertised by the actual diameter of the hubcap and not by the size of the wheel it fits. It would be a lot more clear if the wheel size was given.
combatmp29r 27 #13 Posted July 13, 2008 Well I for one am confused for sure. Yes TT I know that is a normal state for me, but this is above and beyond the normal. I guess I need some one to measure some so I can figure oout what I need now B)
Curmudgeon 28 #14 Posted July 13, 2008 Not to mention, is the hubcap measured by overall diameter, or the diameter of the mounting flange?
Curmudgeon 28 #15 Posted July 13, 2008 DUH!!!!!!!!!! I have hubcaps hanging on the wall of my living room!!!!!! For an 8" wheel the hubcap measures: 8" overall, 7 5/8" flange 12" wheel: 10 1/2" overall and 10" at biggest part of flange. So what would hubcaps for a 10" wheel be? Don't know, I'll have revise my prior statement......
combatmp29r 27 #16 Posted July 13, 2008 Well Crap back to square one. B)
Curmudgeon 28 #17 Posted July 13, 2008 On Tall Girl, you can see how hubcaps on 8" wheels go right to outer edge of the wheel, but on a 12" wheel they sit down inside the wheel more.
combatmp29r 27 #18 Posted July 13, 2008 Yeah I do. Hey I have pics of a charger V8 with hub caps on it some where. Wonder how the rears look?
combatmp29r 27 #19 Posted July 13, 2008 found it. Now I'm confused again. Hush TT. These are factory hub caps for the V8s. Why are they both smaller than the rims? The fronts are 6" rims and the backs are 10" rims :wtf:
Curmudgeon 28 #20 Posted July 13, 2008 I'd guess it has more to do with the shape of the wheel. The hubcaps need to "snap" in somewhere, and wherever the wheel has the shoulder to accommodate that, determines the size of the hubcap.
combatmp29r 27 #21 Posted July 13, 2008 OK Dale. Helps to have 5 verts sittin 10 feet away in the garage. The 10" rears have an inner lip thats 8" in DIA. The 6" fronts have one 4 1/2" in Dia.
Curmudgeon 28 #22 Posted July 13, 2008 That makes me wonder if 8" and 10" wheels take the same hubcap????? B)
combatmp29r 27 #23 Posted July 13, 2008 I was wondering the same thing Dale. Gonna have to see if one of the other members here close have one I can try out. Now the 4 1/2" front worries me. Where the #$%^ do you find one of those?
Buzz 502 #24 Posted July 13, 2008 DUH!!!!!!!!!! I have hubcaps hanging on the wall of my living room!!!!!! Ahh..the bachelor life  . If I hung hung hub caps on my living room wall, parts of my anatomy would be hanging next to them B)
Curmudgeon 28 #25 Posted July 13, 2008 Yeah, I do like the very real advantages of bachelor life! I've been searching and searching various places on the web. For Wheel Horses I have found 4" hubcaps, 5" hubcaps, 6" hubcaps, 8" hubcaps and 12" hubcaps. There seems to be a gap between 8" and 12", which tends to make me think (OH NO!) the 8" caps might very well fit both 8" and 10" wheels. Only one way to be sure. Load that sucker and come visit me!
