Terry M-(Moderator) 2,175 #3 Posted May 28, 2012 speaking of sweet corn, planted some last year for the first time at my current address and it didn't do well. grew 3 feet high and yielded little to nothing. grew it in my home garden where I used to live a few years ago and it grew really well. Do I need to add something ? something missing in the soil?? the other stuff I planted like Green beans, tomatos, Etc. did well. Any Ideas? :scratchead:
Jim_M 178 #4 Posted May 28, 2012 Terry, Corn likes heat, moderate moisture, full sun and lots of nitrogen. Jim
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,175 #5 Posted May 29, 2012 Thanks Jim, I know I have 2 of the 3 ,heat and moisture, so i'm guessing nitrogen fertilizer.? I'll check my local farm and garden place. :)

JamesBe1 82 #10 Posted June 3, 2012 I have two 30' rows of sweet corn this year. Not all of them came up, so I planted sunflowers in the spots where the corn didn't grow. I hope they get along together. Just recently, I read about growing your own popcorn. Doh! I wonder if it isn't too late to plant some if I can find some seeds. Seems like an interesting change from normal garden stuff. Anybody here ever grow any popcorn?

Terry M-(Moderator) 2,175 #12 Posted June 4, 2012 Bunch of guys talking about the length of their.....ears....lol Thats what farmers talk about sometimes..... But , Thats ok because of all the people I've crossed paths with, farmers are some of the nicest people I've ever met... That includes tractor show folks too!
