Thanx Tap!

I've been searching for them for a long time. Can you help me narrow it down on their site. They have pages and pages of o-rings. Their prices seem pretty good at least for the orings that I have seen so far.

I think it is page G1 to G7, been so long ago but remember buying BUNA RUBBER NITRILE O-RINGS & WASHERS, square backup washers.

EDIT: I guess you knew how to get to the pages,,Duh

I clicked on printable catalog and then to Section G - CYLINDER SEALS, Polypacks & U-Cups & Vees, O-Rings & Backups, Metric & Inch that will open

a .pdf file for you..If you have ID , OD and cross section (thickness) it should be in the list.

I call them the first time I ordered, and told them what I was looking for, The service and info they gave was really helpful, at that time anyway :1-800-228-9222 www.baumhydraulics.com

FULL package ONLY on o-rings and backup washers See Page G9 for quantities

Sorry I cant be more help,

Tim

Thanx again Tim. I have no problem order more than I need. Having three hydros, you never know when you are going to need a set. This is way better than ordering them from Toro.

I think some of the larger D's actually had an electric cooling fan by the motor that blew across the metal lines. I saw one on ebay a couple of months back. I don't know if you want to consider something like that, since it doesn't really address the underlying cause. But a cheap 12v fan like they use in RV's and trucks might be easy to install. But it might also mask a larger problem that could get a lot more serious. Just a thought.

Paul shipped me his pressure gauge. I'll install it during a routine mowing job and record how the heat and pressure are related. Might give me something to go on. I'll report back as soon as I can get to the lawn!

Hmmmmmm. I'd love to hear the other's opinion on this so far. Paul, Jeff, and Andy have a lot more experience than I.

I haven't chipped in on this so far on this one as my experience is limited to my D's specific hydro dysfunctionality. This manifestation has me mystified to say the least but if you go through the Sunstrand overheating diagnostic that Paul posted and can't find anything wrong with the pump or motor then my thoughts might take me along the following lines.

Unlike plowing or grading, mowing doesn't put any significant extra load on the hydro - the oil shouldn't be getting this hot. It's finally stopped raining here and the fields had dried up enough today to take the D out for a test run. I haven't put all the panels back yet so it was possible to feel the manifold pipes. They got warm but certainly not hot, and after 20 mins or so the tranny casing was barely warm. On my C-120 auto the tranny case would be warm to touch after that time so the pipework does appear to form a kind of radiator that is quite effective.

This is useful in compensating for the higher power transfer available from the larger D series engines but unless you're working the tractor hard you're not really utilising the extra power the D has over a C-series (which doesn't have the manifold) The D is much heavier than a C admittedly but it still comes back to the oil shouln't be getting that hot unless perhaps there is something amiss with the transmission and the engine is having to work harder than normal to get the tractor moving. If it were belt driven the belt would let you know that something was wrong but a hydro will transfer all the power that's on offer without complaint but the more energy being transferred from engine to transmission the hotter the oil will get.

Just a few random thoughts on the issue I know but there is a possibility that the fault could lie outside the hydro. I once had to rebuild a jeep gearbox and read somewhere that you could make the transmission quieter by using shims to make sure that the gears lined up perfectly. The result was a stiffer than normal gearbox that was indeed quieter but the unmistakeable smell of hot hypoid oil as you went along told me all was not well and I had to strip it down again.

Hope you find an answer soon Tommy and btw feel free to add yourself to the dysfunctional D family as you certainly have a typically difficult D challenge on your hands.

Andy

Hey all, I need to install a drive belt on my 75 D180 for my snowblower.  I've looked through a bunch of D-series owner's manuals, and none seem to mention replacement procedure.  The PTO pulley is fixed, save for engaging the PTO and there is minimal movement at the snowthrower pulley. There's no idler or tensioner as far as I can tell.  Do I have to remove the PTO pulley?  That seems to be a required service item.
Same question for my 80 D200 as well really.

      Using the recommended 4L490W belt.

      Thanks

I got a D-180 for $250, and the governor is messed up, the points won't open or close, and I took it apart and was being stupid and messed some stuff up in there, and now I need a new one.
Where can I get one that's not on eBay for $200?
I also forgot to say it was a Kohler K482, and I'll throw some pictures of the tractor in as a treat.

Hello fellow Horse Heads long time no post for me, life gets crazy & a lot of things change sometimes but anyhoo. So back a few years ago when I first got my 1994 314-H I had it at my shop going threw it. One of my customers walk past as im working and said, you know I think Iv got a Wheel Horse & im thinking "no you dont buddy". I give him my # to send pics thinking it was a big waste of time & after getting the pics I realized he did have a Wheel Horse! I hand shake bought it right there, asked him to bring it to my store & he said no problem. Well after almost 2 years it is finally in my orbit. I know very little about it other than his father-inlaw got it new and used it around his house moving snow and stuff. His father inlaw moved down south here when his daughter got married and gave the tractor to my customer because he had a farm & his the inlaw had no use for it anymore. Same with every barn find, "it was running when parked" 8 years ago, said one of the axel seal is leaking. Im happy and hope I can get it back in running order soon cause it is going to be handy around the truck farm!!

I will post Pics as soon as I reinstate my membership
