slufoot733 70 #1 Posted April 30, 2012 Well I finally had time to look into why my D-200 was not charging the battery. Could it be the alternator in the engine (not a good thing), could it be a bad regulator (not as bad but a hassle), or could it be something else? I dove in and found a rats nest of wires under the control panel. If anyone has ever been under the control panel of a D you know there's no room to work in there. Anyway, I put my meter on the leads from the alternator and BAM, 32 volts from the alternator. Then I put the meter on the output from the regulator and I had a good 14.8 volts. Now I follow the orange wire from the regulator to the ignition switch, then to the amp meter. I had 14.8 volts going into the ignition switch but nothing coming out. I pulled the plug off the switch and then put it back on and there it was....14.8 volts to the amp meter and to the battery. It was nothing more than a loose or dirty connection. Thank you Murphy for not visiting me today! Kevin
