thats usually what happens when welding any steel that has a galvanized or 'plated' finish on it. the galv burns and leaves a powder that usually just brushes off. smells great too.....

chevrat, thats a lot of work your doing there on that swiss cheese deck......

That truely is a labor of love! That deck should be grateful, anyone else would have scrapped it, but your bringing it back to life! :text-datsphatyo::thumbs:

I wouldn't breath too much galvanized fumes if I could help it.

I have my shop vac over the area I'm welding pumping smoke out side. Its Doing a good job at keeping my nose clean.
