Steveasaurus - Lake Shelbyville Crappie

Recommended Posts

wh500special

Hey Steve!

Lake Shelbyville is hot right now for Crappies! No lunkers - our biggest was a little better than 12" - but minnows are producing anywhere from 3 to 18 FOW.

Here's a stringer with one of the guys in our group...there were three in his boat:

15-fish per angler. 10 over 10", 5 under. Dad and I limited out both Friday and Saturday. Among all the guys in our group over the span of a few days we kept 637 keepers.

Get down there Steve!

Steve

Thanks for the picture and the tip Steve. I remember talking with you and your dad about this at the show last year. You can't beat those slab white crappies...fantastic. I really need a road trip too. :)

I'm in, you just say when! I'll bring a mess of trout fillets to cook up and get us started. All I need is an hour to pack the cooler ;)

How does a fall fishing trip sound to you guys?? Maybe late September or October. :)

Sounds like a possibility!

Mom and Dad ran back up there Friday and kept 22 keepers. Dad said they had to really sort thru the little ones and the water was about 10 degrees warmer this week. The weather is supposed to stabilize this week so hopefully the pre-spawn stays going. I'm going to try and talk my wife into a mother's day outing this weekend...I go fishin', she doesn't have to look at me. :)

I've never been able to time things right, but the lake apparently gets really hot for White Bass in the summer. It's one of those "every cast" types of things.
