I've been working out of a silver tent for a couple of years now, Mine is on a concrete slab and i bolted it down with red heads(it aint goin nowhere) My tarp is needing replaced soon I have a split forming at one of the poles where the roof transitions to side, and the zipper is FUBAR on one side. Never had a problem with snow load it seems to just slip off, when it gets deep I have the step son go out and shake it off. I have a small radient gas bottle heater out there in the winter that heats it up nicely actually have to take the coat off and turn it down after about 30 minutes.

It's nice when they aren't over dirt. I have mine over a concrete slab too, but I didn't go the extra mile and bold it down.

With heavy snow, I still have to go out and shake the snow off the spots that look like they are sagging. It's hard to get the cover tight. I started to rip the edge of my other one from overtightening. I'm a little too scared to run my gas bottle heater in there in the winter time. Is yours the type with the perforated brick that gets red hot from the flame? I have too many flammables my tent/shed to risk it.

I have another shelter that is one of shelterlogics engineered shelters that I use as a hanger. It's really strong, but the canvas is always the weak point. I have had to take the front panel off and replace the zipper. I've seen plenty of canvasses rip open from the weight of snow and ice.

I don't mean to denigrate them. Heck, I have two. There are just a couple of weak points that need watching out for.

I have been thinking about getting another to put some of my toys in. I don't want to put it over dirt. I was thinking of putting down plywood, or maybe some old pallets with plywood over them to form a floor. Any opinion as to other options?

Mine is getting beat up pretty bad. Mostly from the wind cause it's not securely held down. It will be fine (hope) this summer with all the extra "ventilation" from all the eyelets torn out. Back side corner is completely torn away. Roof is still intact, mainly cause the tarp I have over it, keeps most the rain out. But it's better than not having anything.

On a side note, got the to drive the tractor yesterday. Trying to build spacers out of sheet metal and have everything line up was a major PITA, then I thought bout using the 1276 tower since it's taller than the 1045. Didn't even have to drill any holes in the frame, bolted right in. Since the tower was a hydro, has different sides than a gear, so need to cut that off and using a junk 854 tower for the sides. Still need to find a belt guard. Belt is the wrong length, had to go thru the junk pile to find pulley's that would work with what belts I had. I'm gonna use a 4" on the engine since I have a PTO, and might use a 4" on the tranny as well, would like a little bit of speed. Right now I have a 6 or 7" off a 141. 3rd gear high range is sloooooowwwwwwww.

Still have to figure out the air filter setup. The hood is narrow compared to a 3-4-5 series, they almost fit underneath. I'm gonna make a spacer to move the majority of the filter to the outside of the hood, then trim the sides of the hood to clear. Without getting into building a completely new airbox, only way to get it to clear. There is a ton of space under the hood too. Not using the gas tank on the tower, full size car battery will fit, which this motor needs. Regular tractor battery won't even crank the engine over, even WITH the compression release.

But one thing I have to figure out is where and how to put some weight up front. I have the attach-o-matic up front, so can't block it, but even as heavy as the motor is, it still lifts the tires off the ground!! Not being used to the clutch, dumped it in 3rd high, only 1/4 throttle, tires came off the ground 4-5". Also while climbing a pretty steep hill and the motor didn't even notice it, the tires tended to plow a little. Not being aggressive tread might be the culprit tho....
