I would like to see if she will run. what should I do prior to starting. Rooster was kind enough to send me a 300 page manual but I hope someone can give me some quick tips to give her a shot to fire up. Thanks a bunch Chris pics if you need them are in my gallery
CRE1992 135 #2 Posted April 19, 2012 I would check the oil level, clean the spark plug, clean the carb, clean or replace the points and condenser, add some fresh gas and give it a pull!
Kelly 1,029 #3 Posted April 19, 2012 Do not use starting fluid on small engines, I use brake clean, I'd drain the oil and put fresh in it, check for spark, if none clean the points.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,330 #4 Posted April 20, 2012 Just to add to what has been said already.. 1- change out the fuel line with new. 2- install an in line fuel filter. 3- make sure the tank is clean without rust etc. if rust is present pull the tank throw a piece of chain in it with degreaser and water and shake it reall good for a while and then wash it out good. if you have way to blow it out with air do so if not you will have to wait until it is dry, add new gas and fire it up. Ken B 3,164 #5 Posted April 20, 2012 If you get it running before you try riding it don't forget to check to see if there is any fluid in the differential. They tend to leak out over the yrs.

wheelhorse656 20 #9 Posted April 20, 2012 I add a teaspoon of oil to the cylinder and slowly crank it over about 10 times. That being added to all the steps mentiond before.
bowtiebutler956 650 #10 Posted April 20, 2012 I'd say these guys pretty well covered it. Matt :flags-texas:
Matt Baumgardner 4 #11 Posted April 28, 2012 I also have the same type of engine and was wondering if you might be able to answer a few of my questions?
bowtiebutler956 650 #12 Posted April 28, 2012 Matt Just go to the engines section, and on the right hand side you will see a button that says Start New Topic. Hit that button, and ask all the questions you want, or you could post it in the introductions section being your new here. That's a great name you have!
