old Ingersoll Rand air compressor

I am getting for free, an old Ingersoll-rand air compressor I can't find any info off the company website or internet.

model:30P30 125 psi

so it's green-blue, horizental, belt driven with I guess a 30 gallon tank on wheels and handle..real heavy. plugs into the guys garage outlet so must be single phase 110.

not sure if oil or oil free as my knowledge of air compressors is zilch. but for free and it runs. oil in the motor? clean

sorry no pictures...let me dig it out tommrow for a better look.

any thoughts?

If its a belt drive it wont be oil free. Plugging into a wall outlet is not a guarantee its 120v. They do make 220v outlets that look very similer to a 120v outlet.

thanks Mike for the quick info. about all my knowledge of air compressors is from my friends handing me a air tool and it runs. LOL. looking at sleaze bay it looks like the older ingersolls were the a blue-green color not like the beige color they are now or perhaps a "commercial" model. I'll grab some photos tommorow. it's from the elderly gentleman who sold me the 520 and he came over to look at the tractor and didnt even recongnize his old tractor! He got the compresser from a guy who used to paint with it and he wants me to have it.

I have an old IR compressor which is in fact blue-ish green. Shall we say Aqua ? As my wife calls it. It is a large 5 hp 230v w/ a 65 gallon tank. Mine is a 2 cyl. and I just use compressor oil in it. I change it 1 time a year. It is app. 40 years old and never been rebuilt. Only things I have ever replaced is intake filters 2 times a year and 1 electric motor. Oh yeah, the pressure switch once. It was my dads and he bought it used in 1980. But I never run out of air.

Yes, it is a commercial compressor. It stands over 6' tall. It takes up alot of room. I also have a Reumellin sand blasting cabinet unit that came with it when my dad passed away. Both units are about the same size. Needless to say, Niether one of them are portable if you know what I mean. I've never used the sand blaster since I hauled them home. My dad had a furniture and antique restoration business and that is what they were used for. So, I did have PLENTY of time in this blasting cabinet. I think I am going to sell the cabinet though. I remember my dad saying all the time "If you change oil in the compressor once a year, and, filters twice a year, and, drain the water out of it, it will last you a lifetime". I guess he was right.

check the data plate on the motor it will give you voltage aparage and horsepower. more then likely it is dual voltage and will run on either 120 or 240 depending on how it is wired 240 usually requires about 1/2 the amps. Make sure wherever you plug it in can handle the amp draw or you'll be poping breakers and fuses at the least. At the worst it can actually harm the motor and start a fire.

got pictures today but the Frau has the USB cable in her car! a lot of the compresser is splotched with paint and it seems one of PO's used it to paint and lacking a board to test spray...he sprayed the tank and some if not all of the decals are under decades of paint

from the model number: 30P30 and the motor being single cylinder..I gonna guess its 3 HP, P for portable and 30 for gallon tank.

even on wheels this thing is a beast compared to the same size from Crapsman and I'm gonna need my buddys trailer

Once I get it home, I can ponder all the air tools, hoses etc to purchase. I really want to learn to paint! and stop using rattlecans :rolleyes:

If that thing was oil less you would know as soon as it started. Those mohambee's are LOUD! If you put one of them in a pole barn near a wall, it will rattle your fillings out of your teeth! :angry-teeth:

My dad has the same compressor, Its worn out know, but we used it for years and did great for its size.
