bo dawg 516 #1 Posted July 9, 2008 I was mowing lastnight when all of a sudden it acted like I was running out of gas. It was close to E mark but not out, put more in and didn't make a difference. It will start right up and idle, but when you turn up the throtle it starves out. My guess is the carb sucked junk up from tank, but before I do anything I wanted to make sure if there is something else to look for. I hate messin with carb's. If it is the carb problem, what do I start with or look for? Thanks Bo B)
kpinnc 12,182 #2 Posted July 9, 2008 Pull the sediment bowl from the bottom of the carb, and dump it out. Just loosen the bolt in the bottom of the bowl, and it should come right off. Wouldn't be a bad idea to let all the fuel drain out of the tank too, just in case there is a bit of "trash" in there. Put fresh gas back in it afterward. Put the bowl back on, don't make any adjustments on the carb. Also, don't over tighten the bowl. It'll take a few cranking revolutions before you fill the bowl back up with fuel, but it'll get there. See how it runs afterward. That'll tell you if it was in fact some "trash" ingestion... Good luck! Kevin
Curmudgeon 28 #3 Posted July 9, 2008 Wouldn't hurt to add an inline filter while you're at it. If it's sediment from the gas tank, there most assuredly is more in there to come out.
