D200 backhoe drive spocket ???

I am having difficulties trying to get this off ! Wodering if it even comes off ?

I picked this up from Scott (whfan74) and it was a factory loader / backhoe tractor. The drive sprocket on the pto will not come off :angry-banghead: I have tried pulling, prying, wedging and hammering on it to get this thing off, also used a half can of PB blaster with no results. :angry-screaming: My question is, does this thing (sprocket) come off. :confusion-confused:

Thoughts, suggestions, magic cure? :confusion-seeingstars: :thanks:

from the photo it looks like pins or rivets have been used to secure it in place on the splines. I'll bet you have grind them or drill them to get the sprocket off.

Those are actually the ball bearings that make up the coupler on the end of the pto shaft. I took the outer ring off to hopefully free things up some, no luck with that either? :angry-banghead::angry-tappingfoot:

Looks like its time to get power tools out. :tools-hammerdrill: It will come out of thier, one way or another. :ranting: :soapbox:

It looks like the sproket is made onto a splined shaft like the splined PTO shaft.

The sproket & PTO shaft are connected with a splined coupling.

When the retaining ring is moved towards the tractor, the (probably) 4 balls are to be allowed to move out (away from) a grove in the splines allowing the splines to be removed from the coupling. The balls are probably rusted in place (not moving freely) allowing the sproket splined shaft to be removed from the coupling....Many large farm tractors have the same type of couplings on their PTO couplings.

Ok, after alot of pb blaster, heat, drills, taps and a slide hammer she is finally apart. :banana-wrench:post-4490-0-25057300-1333845322_thumb.jp post-4490-0-82875300-1333845344_thumb.jp

Took the coupler apart and cleaned as good as I could with emery cloth all the ball bearings, the coupler collar and the coupler it's self.post-4490-0-02461800-1333845464_thumb.jp

Next put it all back together, oiled ,cleaned and oiled some more on the coupler and now she accepts the pto shaft like it should.post-4490-0-28052400-1333845572_thumb.jp

Paid off and now I can use the pto. :chores-mop:

Maybe some "Anti-Seize" on the parts would be a good idea.

Maybe some "Anti-Seize" on the parts would be a good idea.

For sure , I will be using it on a regular basis. The coupler was full of rust and debris when I did get the sprocket shaft out.

      Hey all, I need to install a drive belt on my 75 D180 for my snowblower.  I've looked through a bunch of D-series owner's manuals, and none seem to mention replacement procedure.  The PTO pulley is fixed, save for engaging the PTO and there is minimal movement at the snowthrower pulley. There's no idler or tensioner as far as I can tell.  Do I have to remove the PTO pulley?  That seems to be a required service item.
      Same question for my 80 D200 as well really.  
       
      Using the recommended 4L490W belt.

      I got a D-180 for $250, and the governor is messed up, the points won't open or close, and I took it apart and was being stupid and messed some stuff up in there, and now I need a new one.
      Where can I get one that's not on eBay for $200?
      I also forgot to say it was a Kohler K482, and I'll throw some pictures of the tractor in as a treat.

      Hello fellow Horse Heads long time no post for me, life gets crazy & a lot of things change sometimes but anyhoo. So back a few years ago when I first got my 1994 314-H I had it at my shop going threw it. One of my customers walk past as im working and said, you know I think Iv got a Wheel Horse & im thinking "no you dont buddy". I give him my # to send pics thinking it was a big waste of time & after getting the pics I realized he did have a Wheel Horse! I hand shake bought it right there, asked him to bring it to my store & he said no problem. Well after almost 2 years it is finally in my orbit. I know very little about it other than his father-inlaw got it new and used it around his house moving snow and stuff. His father inlaw moved down south here when his daughter got married and gave the tractor to my customer because he had a farm & his the inlaw had no use for it anymore. Same with every barn find, "it was running when parked" 8 years ago, said one of the axel seal is leaking. Im happy and hope I can get it back in running order soon cause it is going to be handy around the truck farm!!
