ericj 1,578 #1 Posted March 27, 2012 I know this has been discussed before on here but I couldn't find the proper thread. I need the part # for the nappa or wicks tans filter. I already know I need a hydraulic filter not an engine oil filter. some body gave me a fram # of PH2844 that's suppose to be a hydraulic filter but can't confirm this till i see one thanks Eric
Paul D. 26 #2 Posted March 27, 2012 I was able to call NAPA and give them the # off of my oil filter and they cross referenced it and gave me there # I didn't even have to tell them it was for a wheel horse. I have the sundstrand trans. The original filter # on mine was 108335. It was the original oil filter... The previous owner (My Dad) apparently didn't realize that filters need to be changed more than every 30 years NAPA cross # was 1410. My tractor is a C-

squonk 41,344 #4 Posted March 27, 2012 Frams are junk. Go with the 1410 Napa filter which is a hyd. filter
Callen 64 #5 Posted March 27, 2012 I just checked into this last Saturday. I used the Toro parts viewer and looked up the factory filters for my C121 and my GT1848. The C took a filter number102819, the GT took filter number108335. Then I crossed them both to Wix numbers. The 102819 came back as 51521. The 108335 came back as 51410. The 51521 has an anti-drainback valve, the 51410 is a hydraulic fiter. Can anyone tell me if the102819 from Wheel Horse had an anti-drainback valve and relief valve? Thanks, Chester
Paul D. 26 #6 Posted March 27, 2012 I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I would think that without the anti drain back valve that your attachments would drift. I know a guy that runs gravely's for his mowing service and ever since he started running regular oil filters he's had problems with his decks slowly dropping as he mows. can whlvr 993 #7 Posted March 28, 2012 just curious why he would use a regular oil filter?
gregg'shorses 77 #8 Posted March 31, 2012 Anti-drain back valve, stops the filter from loosing oil when the engine/tranny isn't running AND when the filter is mounted with the open end pointing down. It is the rubber/ nitrile flap you see that blocks the 4 to 8 inlet holes.
varosd 1,185 #9 Posted March 31, 2012 I stuck with the original, for my new 520, and went to the local Toro dealer. Once I pull the old one off, I will clean it up and keep it for reference. plus the trans filter from the dealer still says Wheel Horse! also the the parts guy, about my age of close to 50, didnt bat an eye or look it up..."Eaton 1100 filter? got it right here" I wonder for how long.... squonk 41,344 #10 Posted March 31, 2012 1410 Napa is physically the same as the 1521 as far as size, threads, gasket dimension and diameter.
