grnlark 487 #1 Posted March 23, 2012 Today I bought the coolest, beast of a garden tractor. It's a Kubota B6000 with a 2 cylinder diesel, 4 wheel drive, hydro 3-point, front and rear PTO, individual foot brakes, 44" belly mower and 48" rear knife mower. This thing is crazy cool. It's a touch smaller than my Power King was, but this thing put my 4x8 trailer to the test. It weighs a ton. The steering is super tight, it runs awesome, no leaks, hydro works mint, it has both hand and foot throttle too. My original plan was to buy it and flip it, but its so damn cool and such a powerhouse that I can't see why I would. I haven't been this stoked for a purchase in a long time.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,330 #2 Posted March 23, 2012 Now Matt-that is a workhorse!! For those looking for a machine to have a loader on that would fit the bill. Any idea of the year? Before I bought my Terramite I looked for an older Kabota with backhoe and loader however they were just too high priced for me. Nice find !!
Docwheelhorse 2,660 #3 Posted March 23, 2012 HI Matt, I had two of those... one with a snow blade/more of a front mount grader and one with a loader on the front and full frame backhoe off the back. Mine was a B6000 and a B6100 both where from the early 80's and had the 3 cylinder engines. The interesting part about the motors was that when you look behind the fan you think your looking at the water pump. Your actually looking at the altenator---they only put put abput 10 amps and thats why the headlights are just parking light bulbs. There isn't any water pump.... the cooling works like a coffee pot---the hot water percolates up and into the radiator and as the water cools it drops down back into the engine. I got rid of mine because they where simply too small and tippy with the loader and backhoe and the one that had the plow/grader wouldn't push for nothing. It would sit and spin all 4 even with the rear differential locked in. Cool as heck I would agree but not much more effective then a well setup Wheelie Horse. I don't know what you paid--but I sold both of mine together to one guy for $10,000..... The loader one was completly rebuilt with new paint and decals and looked brand new. Good luck and nice find. Sparky-(Admin) 21,338 #4 Posted March 24, 2012 Now that is one sweet machine. Say goodbye to your nice lawn if you decide to drive around on your grass. I bet those AG's leave some nasty marks. Mike..........
VinsRJ 721 #5 Posted March 24, 2012 I stopped by my brother's house to check this thing and take it for a ride. I must say it is pretty cool and tight!

bowtiebutler956 650 #9 Posted March 24, 2012 Nice find Matt! I really like the way those old Kubota's look. I had a B8200HST and it was an awesome machine, although it was not a 4wd. I sold it a couple of years ago, wish I hadn't. That is one tough looking little rig! Matt :flags-texas:
squonk 41,157 #10 Posted March 24, 2012 I just sold a Mitsi 372 that looks amazingly like that Kubota. Had the belly mower and turfs. Nice unit for farm mowing / maintenance.

Wheel-N-It 2,969 #14 Posted March 25, 2012 Thats one heck of a compact tractor !!! I would not sell it either, unless I really needed the money.
grnlark 487 #15 Posted March 25, 2012 Well, here's my dilemma... Anyone who has been to my house knows I have no practical use for a machine like this whatsoever. The cool factor is what made me buy it and the fact that I got a great deal on it. The previous owner has another one with a loader on it that I might have an opportunity to buy at the end of the summer. I really want an in-ground sprinkler system here at the house. Been wanting one for several years but with two kids in daycare is just not feasible. If I sell this beast then I'd finally have the ability to get it. But every time I walk in the garage and look at it, Im so torn. It's freaking cool. What would you do?

grnlark 487 #17 Posted March 26, 2012 A few pics of the 48" flail. This is something I know for certain I wil NEVER use. The knife blades look practically brand new.
Ken B 3,164 #18 Posted March 26, 2012 That is a nice machine Matt. It might be a double edged sword if you break the attachments up from the tractor and sell them. On the one hand the attachments will probably sell rather easily. But on the other hand I think the tractor might get more money if you have some attachments to go with it? Ken, the plan for now is to keep the tractor I think - at least for a few months so I can at least enjoy it for a while. I just have no use for the flail and quite honestly its a BIG attachment. I'm going to keep the belly mower. but don't want the flail in the garage any longer than it needs to be there.
Ken B 3,164 #20 Posted March 27, 2012 That is a solid plan Matt. I'd no doubt keep the mower deck with it. It would be cool as hell to be able to try that flail mower out somewhere though wouldn't it?

It would be cool as hell to be able to try that flail mower out somewhere though wouldn't it? You have any brush to clear? It works mint. I had to take it off the tractor to bring the tractor home. It was hooked up and functional when I took the tractor out of the storage garage. That's how I know it's in fine working order.

Steve B. 30 #23 Posted March 28, 2012 That is a beast of a tractor. I had a chance a few years back to pick one up with all the attachments: loader, backhoe, mower, wood-splitter, sickle mower, harrow, THE WORKS. A friend was selling his house and moving into town. Told me I could have it all for $10k, he was listing it for 13. In the end he sold it to the guy who bought the house for 8000. I've told my wife many times since that I came within an ace of just buying it and suffering the beating later. I still kick myself for passing on it. Congrats on the great score Matt! grnlark 487 #24 Posted April 18, 2012 I've been cleaning, waxing and adjusting things for the past few weeks. I re-upholstered the seat, fixed the cracks in the rear fender and just finished my fabricated brush guard / PTO gaurd / light bar. I wanted it to look like something that would have been a factory Kubota piece, so I found and ordered an orange warning decal on eBay and had the seller make it to my dimensions. I picked up the lights for $5 at a local swap meet this past weekend. With a quick blast, prime and paint I think they look sweet. If I only had a use for the tractor now.... LOL!
