Jamie Tater Hiers 6 #1 Posted March 17, 2012 This was lastnights purchase all complete just missing carb, air breather, and a battery. I have a B&S 12.5 horse horizontal shaft on my work bench not being used for anything. Would anybody know of a reson why I shouldn't upgrade to it?
kpinnc 11,493 #2 Posted March 17, 2012 If nothing else, use the 12.5 until you get the parts you need for the original. No sense letting it sit unused!
AMC RULES 37,102 #3 Posted March 17, 2012 It's your tractor Tater, build it the way you want to. :coffee:
Kelly 1,029 #4 Posted March 17, 2012 I'd swap the carb to see how it runs, then you will know if the 12 hp has a new home or you just need parts for the 11hp.

Rooster 191 #9 Posted March 19, 2012 That 12.5 Briggs is alot more engine than the 11 HP.. MOST 11 hp, or model 25 Briggs were "cool" bore engines meaning they had no sleeve in them, The model 28 will have a cast sleeve. they last much longer! The added stroke gives them alot more torque. My opinion, it would be a MUST do upgrade! And BTW...if ya ever decide to rebuild that Model 28..I can show you how to make a powerhouse out of it, lol! Wheel-N-It 2,968 #10 Posted March 20, 2012 You have the makings of a fine little tractor there. Go ahead and put the briggs in it now. That way you can go now get it useful. Then you may be able to find a 14 or 16 horsepower Kohler to stick in there and really make it a worker.
