Save Old Iron 1,566 #17 Posted March 22, 2012 Eric, great news about the ignition mod - glad it all worked out and thanks for your patience in working out the bugs in the SSI module. I did complete some prototype pickup coils last night. If you ever feel you want to investigate one, I'll be happy to send one out to you. These prototypes have a rare earth magnet instead of the older 1970's nickel based magnets. The pickup can be placed further away from the flywheel pins and allows for a more forgiving setting of the pickup coil. Other than gap setting, the function is the same. Tell your dad thanks for the assist with the o'scope readings too.
hym123 14 #18 Posted March 26, 2012 Finished my C120 short of finding a new original seat and decals finished odds and ends cleaned up wiring from the wells ignition and mounting the coil set the timming carb is all re built had to set governer tweek with carb and trottle cable this is always a little tough to get just right the carb is hunting just at mid throttle and some times when i accelerate or decelerate throttle fast than catches up and stops hunting sprayed carb cleaner on throttle sure enough hunts when i sprayed it, pain in the #!#!#! It doesn't hunt at low idle or at full throttle any body have any thoughts? gas cap is good all new gaskets too could the spring on governer be eather to tight or to loose due to were i have boaden cable adjusted i have tweeked the hole set up about ten times wish i had a tach to check rpms at idle and full, any way sounds great and with the new ignition now finally have great power again here are some pics More pics pics pics
