wh-jason 32 #1 Posted March 6, 2012 stopped in at my local dealer today, and he has a 1990 520H that hes been robbing parts off of. missing the engine, rear tires, and steering wheel. also the frame is cracked where it mounts to the trans, the hood and fenders are decent but the seat is shot. it has the standard front axle, and does not have the gear reduction steering. hes wont take less than $125 for it. what do you guys think? Ken B 3,164 #2 Posted March 6, 2012 It might be worth it if you already have the parts on hand. If you don't, it is going to cost you an arm and a leg to put it back togther.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #3 Posted March 6, 2012 Bad deal in my eyes. The hydro is in unknown condition and is untestable without the motor. That would be the biggest reason I would pass on it. I'm thinking that he parted it out because something catastophic happened to it and if he sold the motor then it was probably a good motor which means the next catastophic failure would have been the hydro. Duff 206 #4 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd be a little concerned about the cracked frame, too. By 1990 I think WH had reinforced the frame to tranny connection to overcome problems in the earlier models, so it may have been abused pretty hard to do that kind of damage. smoreau 658 #5 Posted March 6, 2012 That's how I found mine at the dealer, The onen had blew up dew to the oil filter coming loose shortly after a oil change. The tractor was the dealerships and they just started robbing this and that, then I come along and scarf it up! I would say it was in good shape other then it was stored outside most of its life. Not any more though. Inside storage only! see my thread at
Kelly 1,029 #6 Posted March 6, 2012 I'd offer $100 I'm sure if nothing else there is way more than that in parts on it.
kpinnc 11,896 #7 Posted March 6, 2012 Keep in mind that this tractor, without the swept axle and reduction steering- is mechanically no different than a 312-H. Good or bad for your situation, you'll have to decide.
can whlvr 993 #8 Posted March 6, 2012 like the others said its basically a 312-h,which i just bought in the fall one that was in tough shape but every thing there,i had to febuild the engine,i paid 50 bucks, its a gamble like stated allready about the hydro pump,i got lucky it is strong but the engine was smoking worse than a coal burning freight train
