Don1977 604 #26 Posted March 4, 2012 Working Wheel Horses hard is what they are made for. Take care of it keep it inside when not using it. It will not need arother rebuild for 30 years. I bought mine new 35 years ago and it only need some new paint 2 years ago not a complete tear down. I did have to weld up two cracks in the hood stand because it didn't have the back two bolt installed. There were hole in it but none in the frame I drilled some holes and fixed that. I've kept up with the repairs over the years and it will last longer than me.
bowtiebutler956 650 #27 Posted March 4, 2012 It is a hard worker, and I could'nt be more pleased with its performance. I do keep it inside, and I take good care of it. Sometimes I just have to remember its not a show queen, its a Wheel Horse. Of course. Matt :flags-texas:
sorekiwi 761 #28 Posted March 4, 2012 I mowed 2 acres with my B80 and its 36" deck once and it took forever, and really wasnt too much fun at all. My long term plan is to have 2 tractors with 48" decks available to do most of it, and a little tractor with a 32" or 36" rear discharge deck to do around the house and amongst the trees. You'd think that with 11 tractors in the shed that really wouldnt be a problem... :banghead:
bowtiebutler956 650 #29 Posted March 4, 2012 If it were any other mower it would not be fun, but with my B-80 it is. Its just a little stressful, since I don't want to tear it up! However it would be nice to have a C-160 with a 48" deck thats not quite a nice as my B-80 to do the majority of the work with. That, and I have always wanted a horse with a K341 on it. Tuff. Kingwood990 16 #30 Posted March 4, 2012 I have mowed 5 acres with my 244-H with the 38 mower. It took for ever but it was worth it in the end. I will admit mowing with the WH is the most fun you can have with a garden tractor. Sure it hurts when you see a new scratch but think of it like this, your tractor is enjoying the exercise. bowtiebutler956 650 #31 Posted March 4, 2012 I suppose your right Kingwood990. It is a horse, I'm sure it likes to run. Matt :flags-texas:
Wheel-N-It 2,969 #32 Posted March 4, 2012 Say Wheel-N-It, I would have to go about a minimum of 1200mi. to start getting into Wheel Horse country. I like the cubs, but my heart is set on another Horse. Matt Matt, we are on this Earth only once. If your heart is set on a C-160, then save your money and find the one that is just exactly what you want, buy it, and if you have to, have it shipped to your door. Thats nothing to be ashamed of, and its my best advice for you after all the years I have lived and learned. Van

whc160 74 #35 Posted March 4, 2012 Matt you just need to give it time & you will found a C-160. They are a very well bilt tractor. I use all of mine, but one is my worker. The other two do the light duty work. Good luck in your hunt.
bowtiebutler956 650 #36 Posted March 5, 2012 Now I see where all the C-160s are hiding. Nice collection. I will get one eventually, Matt :flags-texas:

chesbaycruiser 83 #40 Posted March 5, 2012 Matt, All I want to know is....what the hell are you feeding that B-80? Your engine has growed up a lot more than mine!
bowtiebutler956 650 #41 Posted March 5, 2012 I guess you haven't seen my original thread in introductions " hello from deep south Texas". Anyway when I got it about 6 years ago someone had already swaped in a K301 in the place of the 181. I rebiult it during my restoration, its now .010 over on the bore and it does run great. I tell ya with that 12hp and only a 36" deck, I can cut even tall grass without hardly any change in the rpm's. It sounds really good with the stack on it too. Music to my ears. chevrat68 19 #43 Posted March 5, 2012 Why don't you get a larger pull behind mower with its own engine. That what you can have the best of both worlds. Get like a Dr mower or somthing like that. You can still drive it but do minimal damage.
bowtiebutler956 650 #44 Posted March 5, 2012 That is a good idea chevrat68, but before I spend that kind of money, I would get another Wheel Horse to help my B-80 out. Matt :flags-texas:

wheelhorsetroy 4 #49 Posted March 6, 2012 thats a beauty, i can understand how a guy would cringe when the first rock or big stick flies out of the mower ... GOOD JOB on the paint, what a shine!
