AMC RULES 37,132 #2 Posted March 3, 2012 Flexing in what way? Front to back, or side to side? Must be operating on some mighty rough terrain? Scott.
MrHorseMan 0 #3 Posted March 3, 2012 Best thing to do is weld in a 1/4" thick steel plate on the front side of your trans mount. As far as anything else the frames are quite stout. although you could run some outriggers from the plate and tie in to the frame further up. I did both for my puller. Trouty56 567 #5 Posted March 3, 2012 Best thing to do is weld in a 1/4" thick steel plate on the front side of your trans mount. I had the same thing happening to a tractor (C-160 Auto) when I got it. Did this and fixed it. The little ball was slipping out of the cam plate. The frame was cracked where the tranny attaches. whc160 74 #9 Posted March 3, 2012 I found on my on C-160 that the shifter was hitting the plate with the shift slots. Went to my local dealer & asked him if he had seen it before. He walks back to the shelf & comes out with a plate. made this as a fix for the factory trans plate because they crack. The part # is 114285. Went back & got another one for Dad's tractor. Then went back a few days later & he asked me if I had used it yet. I asked him why & he said he could not get another from Toro. So we took it to a local machine shop & got some made. whc160 74 #11 Posted March 3, 2012 Here is a pic of the trans plate before the repair. I found out about the plate after I had removed the trans. You can put the plate in with out removing the trans. The last one I took two bolts out & install guide studs took the other bolts out. Slide the plate on & put the bottom bolts in. Then removed the studs & put the top bolts in. Last welded the plate on each side & painted. I don't have any after pics but I will get one & post it. You have to put in new bolts that are 1/4 inch longer.
