fourwheels0 191 #1 Posted February 25, 2012 my other hobby is 5th scale rc's. i just picked up the new hpi 5sc. these things are a blast if you have the room to run them. for those that are unfamiliar with these. it has a 26cc 2 stroke engine (like a weedeater),weights about 28lbs is 3 feet long and will do 40+mph. here's a pic of my new toy. Wheel Crazy 23 #2 Posted February 25, 2012 Sweet!! Those things are awesome! I really dig that short course body over the buggy. I am in the rc hobby too!!!
MalMac 1,331 #3 Posted February 25, 2012 I had heard about the bigger scales. I once played around with a friends RC off road. Found out that it would be to addicting and stayed away from it. The Wheel Horse's and Model Railroading is expensive enough. Because I found RCing to be way too fun better left alone.
AMC RULES 37,125 #4 Posted February 25, 2012 :text-datsphatyo: I used to really be into R/C cars, planes, boats...still got a couple survivors hanging around, mostly 10th scale electric though. Eighth scale was the most typical larger scale on the market at the time, fifth scale must be new? You could practically drive that thing for Pete's sake, must've cost a fortune to get set up. Looks like a handful to operate, and another mortgage payment to own. Got any video ot that thing in action, you could post? :dunno:
fourwheels0 191 #5 Posted February 25, 2012 yes RC can be addicting but the way i look at it it's cheaper than a DUI lol. 5th scales have been around for a long time but they just started to get affordable about 5-6yrs ago when HPI came out with their buggy. you can spend $900-$3500 and up for one that's ready to run. i used to run nitro rc's but got tired of tuning, overheating ect and $35 a gallon for fuel. the initial investment is about the same as it is to set up a good 1/8th buggy. even though it's huge they are very durable as long as you don't hit tree's,concrete blocks ect lol. sorry no vids but here's a naked pic lol. Wheel Crazy 23 #6 Posted February 26, 2012 I was thinking about selling my rc stuff to buy more tractors, but idk if I want to sell it!! It's a fun hobby! I think I seen a new electric conversion for 5th scale buggies, not sure if it was for Losi or HPI?
fourwheels0 191 #7 Posted February 26, 2012 yup they do have a brushless conversion for the losi and hpi. castle makes it. i want this for home defence lol.

RCTruckDaddy 8 #9 Posted February 26, 2012 I'm into RCs also. I have a Baja 5b SS built from a kit. Also have an old Duratrax Firehammer. Have a few nitro and electric RCs as well. Also like the scale crawler stuff. I built a Tamiya Toyota LandCruiser. Crawling is slow but neat to figure out the right track to take so you don't get hung up. They have taken a back seat lately because of the horses but they are Fun Fun Fun!!!!
