TravisLee 0 #1 Posted February 23, 2012 I have a 1970 model 8hp tractor (work horse) im new to these things and im restoring this one. I need to get the motor running properly before i pull the motor off the frame. Its a Walbro carb i had it running good over the summer but after the vaccum fuel pump failed (diaphram?) i put it up until recently. I rebuilt the carb the other day and put a new briggs and stratton fuel pump on not Knowing if it would work or not. Is it too much pressure? How do i adjust the carb? Is the needle under the bowl a shutoff or some type of regulator?
Martin 2,133 #2 Posted February 23, 2012 dont know much about this model, but from what i found you may have a 1971 workhorse 800. i wouldnt think the fuel pump would be too much pressure if it was designed for a carb application. most carb pumps are going to be similar in psi. dont have any tecumseh engines so im not sure on whether the pump application is ok. heres the service manual for a hh80 tecumseh. should help you out with the carb...... Engine Tecumseh HH80-HH120 SM.pdf looks like that needle under the bowl is a main adjusting needle. hope this helps out. if im wrong about the model im sure somebody will chime in.....
