Vinylguy 4,674 #1 Posted February 21, 2012 I finally took the time to replicate the engine spec plate. Once I get the correct dimensions I think there are two ways to do it. the left decal would be applied to your existing aluminum plate after refurbishing or possibly making the decal on a brushed aluminum vinyl the same way I make the other brushed aluminum decals. What would be the preferred solution?
73-18 automatic 8 #2 Posted February 21, 2012 that looks awesome could you make the ones for the onan's also
Martin 2,131 #3 Posted February 21, 2012 terry, ive been thinking about this for quite a while and while i like the idea of applying to a refurb original plate, i also like the decal complete on brushed aluminum with custom #s. by the way, serial numbers look familiar ...... :ychain:
buckrancher 2,679 #4 Posted February 21, 2012 I prefer the idea of applying it to a original plate Brian

Vinylguy 4,674 #6 Posted February 22, 2012 Open one can of premium worms!!! LOL Glad I asked for dimensions Martin. I got an email today about this project from a non member and he told me they were 2 x 4 inch. I will set the dimensions right now. besides the k241 how many other numbers like k181 and so on. Vinylguy 4,674 #7 Posted February 22, 2012 Martin are your dimensions are for the black area or the aluminum plate?
Vinylguy 4,674 #8 Posted February 22, 2012 Don't tell anyone but I am making a test run on a set of 420 lse chrome and burgundy decals. These are two things I promised myself to get done before the busy season. Keeping fingers crossed. Very difficult to do these on chrome and get a good run. Martin 2,131 #9 Posted February 22, 2012 i have plates with k181, k241, k301 and k321. not sure about any others. i think they are all the same except model number. something tells me the k181 is different though. i will check..... Martin are your dimensions are for the black area or the aluminum plate? black area, but i can get the overall plate size if you want.

Fun Engineer 859 #11 Posted February 22, 2012 Terry I'll be interested in at least two of the K181S. I think for my situation it would be better to have it printed on the brushed aluminum. Both my ID plates are pretty corroded. I think you'll find a lot of interest in these. Good Luck and thanks. Dave
Vinylguy 4,674 #12 Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks Dave Once I get the dimensions accurate I will be listing them. guess I will have to list both and let members decide.
Martin 2,131 #13 Posted February 22, 2012 Check these for accuracy Martin Thanks really close terry, just checked the plate and i get 1.85 x 3.57 close enough....... found another issue though with the k181 tag
Martin 2,131 #14 Posted February 22, 2012 heres the issue (you did mention worms didnt you?) the k181 tag is different to the k241 i gave you as a sample. the 'before starting' and the 'to stop' area vary. the k181 is positioned slightly different as well.... and valve clearances are different.
