Docwheelhorse 2,669 #3 Posted February 19, 2012 I'm watching th Bud shootout as I type this.... did anyone besides me notice how freakin fast these cars are with the new EFI setup..... holy cow they where waaaazoooommmm up to 200mph and screaming. I'm a Dale Jr. fan but am looking forward to Danica and the 500.... I really hope she doesn't wreck/get wrecked right off the bat like most of her other tries in NASCAR. I'd like to see her succeed. bk-scouter 93 #9 Posted February 19, 2012 Is this the first season with fuel injection? I didn't know this until tonight. Is NASCAR getting trying to get more fuel mileage at the races? -BK

Dockfishin 51 #11 Posted February 19, 2012 not a fan of his but boy can Kyle Busch drive a race car, no logical reason he should have even been on the track at the end let alone win after the 2 spin outs he had. Don't like the childish crap from him but man does he have the talent. I was a Sr. fan so I root for jr. for that reason, but style wise has to be harvick and stewart when there not putting there foot in there mouths and just racing. Docwheelhorse 2,669 #12 Posted February 19, 2012 Hi--yes this is the first year / first race with "Fuelie" ... it is Port Injection with a simple throttle body to control the air. I don't know if NASCAR was looking for more mileage or simply better emissions..... There has been some complaining of late by the EPA on how much these cars dump into the air. That was why they got rid of the lead in the gas a year or two ago..... everybody thought the motors wouldn't be able to handle unleaded but everything seems fine. Ken B 3,164 #16 Posted February 19, 2012 I was a big time Nascar fan at one time. There was a time when I didn't miss watching the races on TV or at least going to 3 races a yr. I had the Winston Cup Scene delivered to my house weekly. I didn't shut the TV off when my driver was down 3 laps, if anyone could come back from 3 laps down and win that race, it was my guy. I even went and did the Richard Petty driving experience at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Doing 160 around that track was the biggest thrill of my life! My interest was flushed down the toilet way back in 2001. I have tried to follow the sport but its not the same for me. I'm going to try to follow along a little closer this yr. I like Junior for obvious reasons but if there is any driver out there that has the traits I love in a driver it is Tony Stewart. If my guy was still around he'd still be able to show these young punks whats up. This was my nice weather car back in the day.

I was a die hard fan when NASCAR was the Winston Cup and it was not as popular as it is today. I remember going to races as a kid and we would leave on Thur. night and not get home tell very late on Sun. It was a lot of fun and when you walked behind the stands it was spotless!!! people were very friendly and as it got more and more popular over the years, the back of the stands got worse and the people got not so nice and were not as nice to see you. I also remember being able to park within a 1/4 mile from the track 2 hours before the race started, Know its a good 1 1/2 -2 mile walk. I still like NASCAR, but do not fallow it as I have in the past. I do make it a point to watch the Daytona 500 every year, but after that its hit and miss and have no clue how is in the lead of the points lead at the end of the year. I am looking forward to the race!
6wheeler 603 #20 Posted February 19, 2012 I think they should make em go right every other race . Ever since Kurt Busch quit driving Fords I haven't watched it. How come nobody liked him I wonder? When he had his big year, I won alot of the bar pools. And when he finished the points chase I won $450.00 in that pool. So yeah. he was my hero that year. Even hisdumbo ears couldn't slow him down. can whlvr 993 #21 Posted February 19, 2012 was a pretty good start last night to the season, lots of wrecking, ive been a nascar guy most of my life, the silver fox was my hero, and i still really like his interveiws, especially the one where they asked him what he thought of women in racing, they were speaking of danica,he says, well i dont know but shes not bad to look at :ROTF:
Docwheelhorse 2,669 #22 Posted February 19, 2012 Hey Ken... Thoise Montes have always been one of my favorties.... even a bone stock "wheezer" 305 4 bbl would light the tires right up..... There is one of them sitting on four flats right down the street from me. Makes me wince everytime I see it. A little love and it could be all over again. Brrly1 1,146 #23 Posted February 20, 2012 First off it was Davey Allison, then Ernie Irvin, then came Dale Jarrett. Jarrett retired so then it was the boys of Roush racing(incase you didn't know they have the front row)you have Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and then Matt Kenseth with the killer bees for his pit crew. You have Yates racing producing the motors and they can build some big hp. Just wondering if we will have another Trevor Bayne type win last last year. Right place at the right time.Edwards is looking pretty fast (QUICK). The Fords have been very quick (FAST) already this year!
