Will G 3 #1 Posted February 18, 2012 Took the C-81 for a spin around the yard today and was shifting from 2nd to 3rd and once I released the clutch pedal, the tractor didn't move. Tried moving the hi/lo selector and it seems to be jammed. I'm thinking it popped out of hi range and is stuck in neutral. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
racinfool40 202 #2 Posted February 18, 2012 Hmmm, I'd start by checking the drive pulley and the woodruff key to make sure you didn't shear it...try rocking the tractor by hand while you try to shift the hi-low lever, But don't force it. Mine will sometimes get hung up like that, and just rolling it a few inches will release whatever pressure is causing the lever to not engage, and then it'll slip right into place. Wyattrrp 59 #9 Posted February 19, 2012 WillG It seems too obvious to ask but did you check that the rear tire hub did not slide inward on the axle, far enough to let the half circle woodruff key in the axle slot rotate upward 45 deg and disengage the axle from the hub and allow the axle to rotate freely. Read my response at the end of the "Hub Puller" topic in this forum section. When my C125 had this happen, it felt like the unidrive failed like you mentioned, since while in gear, the drive pulley spins fine but the tractor did not move. I could not see the end of the axle sticking out from the hub an inch because wheel weights were on. Looking under the rear at the tranny, the space between unidrive case and the wheel hub should be over an inch of space. Good luck. Raider10 3 #11 Posted February 20, 2012 WillGCT, My c105 Had similar problem but was stuck in high range. Turned out to be a broken selector fork. Simple fix but got to split the trans in half. smoreau 658 #13 Posted February 26, 2012 I had one that broke the reduction gear in several pieces, around $90 to replace, Bought a replacement trans for $50 and flushed out the trans and replaced the gear oil and was good to go for less then $100 with new axle seals :) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

can whlvr 993 #17 Posted February 27, 2012 ya its pretty common on tractors that have used a fair bit,i had to do one on my 308 before red square existed,or ebay i think too,so i used the dealer and it was a little pricey as i did all the bearings then too,the next problem i had i bought a spare rear end off of a guy from here,had it shipped to me in canada from kentucky,and it was cheaper then the parts i needed,i swapped the new to me in in no time,and watched ebay for the parts for my orig,it took 1 year but i got those parts for 20 bucks plus shipping,20 bucks,and i got 2 axles,and the ring and pinion gear with pinions,40 bucks,the axle was 350 bucks,gear 80 bucks and pinions were up there,just a thought for you to ponder then you rebuild when you have time and cash Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
