meadowfield 2,570 #9 Posted February 16, 2012 Charger 12????? :D
farmer 1,075 #10 Posted February 16, 2012 Give that man a cigar, well very nearly right Mark, I looked up the model # to try to find the year, and it turns out it's a Belgian built '73 12 automatic. Looks like a short run of tractors between the 'names' and the C series. Anyway, when the time comes I think I'll call it a charger 12. ( I prefer the striped decals) The PO is a member of Geoff ( feather20a), a very nice gent, whom it was good to meet and a pleasure to deal with, the tractor was in the deal he posted about back along. The journey home passed close to Andy's place (wheeledhorseman) so I called in and we 'chewed the fat' awhile, again it was nice to finally meet up. (good luck with your D200 Andy) My reasoning behind this purchase is, I wanted a from the seventies with the four bar front grill and automatic transmission. The four tractors cover four decades (don't think I'll find a '50's that I'll be able to afford), and the noughties were Toro, hence my quest is at an end... The plan now is to change the oils in the charger and put it to work to find any faults, leaving me to pull the Commando 8 to pieces, I've had it a year now and it runs well, no smoke, no oil leaks, so I'll make a start on it. A quick and I'll put up some pics.
meadowfield 2,570 #11 Posted February 16, 2012 Rex, from the pics I could see it was a 12 automatic (I have decals for that.... ) and Andy had tipped me off about you popping in on the way back home. You have no secrets on Redsquare ! Good luck with the resto, I really will have to make the time to pop down to see you guys - I'm in Chertsey through the week so not a million miles away.... mark
wheeledhorseman 574 #12 Posted February 16, 2012 No need to justify WH purchases Rex, you'll be telling us next that this is the last! (Oh, you did that already) Well I doubt you'll be able to shake off the addiction that easily! Great to meet you and 'chew the fat'. Yes, I'm continuing on with the 'D' and have a new arrival to announce prob Sunday if all goes to plan. Andy

specialwheelhorse 174 #17 Posted February 17, 2012 Gee That's great. You will have that like new in no time. Got a charger myself I redone a couple of years back. It is a 12 1968 with the old 5 bar front grill. This is the third engine for it.Had many hours on. The only problem I had while rebuilding the engine was getting the balance gears back in properly.I sure like the woodgrain Decals an Old Wheelhorse dealer got for me.Hydro was fine as Frog hair.
