Kevin Lipscomb 1 #9 Posted February 14, 2012 Thanks for all of the nice reply's. Didn't get it unloaded yet, I just want to play with it....LOL . Snow came yesterday.
Kevin Lipscomb 1 #10 Posted February 19, 2012 Got it unloaded Sat. It has some issues. The throttle cable is broke, it doesn't want to move too good, there is a valve on top of the transaxle that is adjustable so I need to read up on that. When I engage the transaxle the belt sound like it is lose and slapping the guard. Starter sound rough. I will read up on the adjustment valve, check out the belt first. Don't have time to work on it right now, so it will have to wait for a week or so.....the engine sounds good just can't get the throttle above 1140 rpms..... KC9KAS 4,741 #11 Posted February 19, 2012 If it doesn't want "to move too good", the tow valve (on the transmission) may be open. This valve is used (open position) to move the tractor with the engine not running. If the engine is running and the valve is open, the fluid is being "by-passed" and not channeled correctly to move the tractor.
Kevin Lipscomb 1 #12 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) KC9KAS, is the valve suppose to be turned all the way clockwise or all the way counter clockwise? Or somewhere in between? I don't have a book on it yet. Your help would be great. Thanks for the reply...Kevin Edited February 20, 2012 by Kevin Lipscomb
e-rancher 0 #13 Posted February 22, 2012 Nice looking sickle mower and tractor. I've never seen the WH sickle in person. Are they more of a novelty or do they really work for cutting an acre or two? Are the rock guards, ledger plates and knives common to other brands? I have a Haban and it's more of a novelty than a serious piece of equipment. e-rancher
Kevin Lipscomb 1 #14 Posted February 22, 2012 I have not used it yet, have to do some work on the tractor first. I have read that they do work good. I live on a blacktop and just wanted something to do the ditch with in the front. I used to do it with a weed eater, but I have a spinal cord injury now and don't get around like I used too. So bought it to cut the front part of the yard....Hope it works like I planned...LOL
oldnugly 2 #15 Posted February 22, 2012 Don't know if this will work. I'm kinda computer challenged. If it does, here's my 953 with 50in sickle bar working on my ditch-my WeedEater loves not having to do this anymore. 4xfourfun 30 #16 Posted February 23, 2012 Love the sickle bars! That looks like the Charger 10 from Ricks auction.

Kevin Lipscomb 1 #18 Posted February 23, 2012 Love the sickle bars! That looks like the Charger 10 from Ricks auction. Someone else asked the same question. I bought from a guy that lives close to Rick so it might be. If it is does anyone know anything about it....the bad and good of how it runs, I would like to know. Right now the throttle is stuck at an idle and the valve on the trans is about half way in the middle of travel.. The guy I bought it from said it ran good with no problems...but some guys "runs good" is not the same as my "runs good" LOL.. Have not had time to get it in the shop to put a new cable on it and service it yet....

farmer 1,075 #20 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm new to the older hydro transmission too, so this might not work for you, but mine has a 'tap' on the top of the box which is the tow valve. It operates through 180 degrees, drive- positive/tow-free wheel. Hope this helps.
Kevin Lipscomb 1 #21 Posted February 23, 2012 Thanks farmer. so the valve only rotates from 'tow' to 'drive' and does not have threads on it. Guess what I am trying to say is that is just turns 180° to change from drive to tow?
Trouty56 565 #22 Posted February 23, 2012 That's right. There is a pin though the adjustment rod. Point the long end towards the front of the trailer....that is if the pin is set right...to engage the transmission. Point it backwards to release it.
oldnugly 2 #23 Posted February 23, 2012 Kevin, thanks for watching my vid. Hope your sickle bar works out as well for you as mine has for me. Tom
