Motion Control Linkage

Recommended Posts

Need some help please. My C-161 automatic will not go in either direction.I saw other forum topics but nothing is quite what I need. 1) Does the pully tensioner rod that is controlled from the seat have an open side like a "C". If not mine is broken and where can I get one? 2) My motion control linkage has a plastic piece that slides up and down and i assume transferres the command from the lever to the actual transmission. (( I am a huge novice but I will try anything )). post-6208-0-10579000-1328898666_thumb.jpI called my local Tractor repair place and they weren't verry helpful. They justpost-6208-0-10579000-1328898666_thumb.jp wanted to bring it to the shop and check it out for themselves for $200 minimun. Attaching a cobbled together picture that I hope will be helpful.

Wow, never seen tensioner that badly worn.

Sloppy belts & or a worn idler pulley & they will get to chattering & elongate the hole.

Call your Toro/WheelHorse dealer back up & let them know you need some parts & have the part numbers.

When your more informed about your tractor they are normally more willing to help out.

The numbers you posted are for the engine, there will be a seperate ID tag for the tractor itself useually off to the side of the dash.

The cam plate thats broken in half in your pic is a part# 5996

The tensioner lever is part# 106360

You might look up "Kelly" here...he's a member/vendor with a boneyard & might have the parts you need.

Take a look at the cam follower pin....the part that rides in the groove on your cam plate.

Also your idler pulley is more than likely no good....if the tractor runs good though these parts are a minor investment compared to buying another one.

Parts breakdown for a C160 Auto.

No problem, glad I could help.

Double check your drive belt & really take a look at the cam follower...if it's worn flat on two sides it will need replaced or you will have to hunt for neutral.

Looking to find a new home for my 84 (I think) C-145. It has a dump trailer with the enclosure for leaves, the PTO impeller to get the leafs into the trailer, the hoses for deck-to-impeller, impeller-to-trailer.

I haven’t run it in over a year.
The battery and the cable to the battery probably need to be replaced.
Comes with a new head gasket still in the bag.
Seat is cracked but still comfortable.

Happy to answer questions or take other pictures.

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.
