can whlvr 993 #2 Posted February 10, 2012 it would depend on the shape of the tractor,if its in good shape and the motor seems to have compression then thats not too bad
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #3 Posted February 10, 2012 Is it a hydro? Its a gamble to buy a non-running tractor where you cant test the hydro tranny. Mike..........
Kelly 1,029 #4 Posted February 10, 2012 I'd say if it's does not look like a complete piece O crap, deck not rusted out, blower in good shape, it's probably worth it, but I would offer less say $
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #5 Posted February 10, 2012 Is it a hydro? Its a gamble to buy a non-running tractor where you cant test the hydro tranny. I would strongly agree with that if it was an early 1980 model with the Sundstrand hydro. If it has an Eaton 1100 hydro, I wouldn't be concerned.
AMC RULES 37,127 #6 Posted February 10, 2012 Parts alone are worth way more than that. I'd say it's a good deal. :teasing-poke:
WHEEL HORSE BILL 7 #7 Posted February 10, 2012 Good deal try to get for $200 if not go with the $250 you won't be upset.
Paul D. 26 #8 Posted February 11, 2012 You could probably sell the deck and thrower and cover your costs. Even if the tractor doesn't run of the motor turns its not a bad deal.
Paul D. 26 #9 Posted February 11, 2012 How do you tell if you have the sundstrand or the eaton? I have a C-
CasualObserver 3,408 #10 Posted February 11, 2012 Generally your model number will have either an E or an S in the number to indicate. E=Eaton S=Sunstrand P=Peerless 8=8 speed Unidrive F=Foote
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #11 Posted February 11, 2012 If the model #'s are gone from the tractor the Eaton 1100 (not the 700) has an oil filter that sticks out the back, and if your looking at it from the rear its on the left side. I believe the Sundstrand is mounted sideways. Mike..........
