you have done a real nice job on that tractor as i know cos i used to own it .

what did you have to do to it besides repainting.

I had that tractor for about a year as i intended to just keep it for parts and i didnt have time to do anything to it myself and the mrs was giving me grief to move it outa the garden.

you have done a real nice job & i cant wait to see the decals on as i know Mark does some real nice reproduction decals

.

just a little bit of history that i know of the tractor is that i bought it from Oxford and it had the fibre glass rear fender and that was all broken so i bought that fender from Bob lewis ( the Horse breaker from ebay ). The guy that i bought it off of had the tractor for 12 years.

Hope you find this to be of some interest.

Have you had it running as yet ?

Hello again. cheers for all your comments. As neil knows he used to own this tractor and sold it to my brother, Mark, (meadowfield). Me and my dad, with the green norlett, have spent a small fortune on this tractor since aquiring it about 4 months since. the main problem when we first got it started was the main mixture needle was completely blocked up the middle drilliing. this meant it would only tick over and wouldnt rev up. once hat was sorted it ran ok but smoked quite badly, also the gearbox was stuck in high range. so we decided a rebuild was in order. The tractor was then completely stripped. Everything else seemed in really good shape. the gear box was stripped and the high low selector fork was found to be broken. No problem here as i simply welded it back together. It was then treated to new oil seals and rebuilt. The engine was then stripped and the only thing worn was the piston and rings. The bore was servicable so an engine rebuild kit was ordered, complete with piston and rings, from The Mans One Stop Shop, on ebay. All the way from Wauseon,USA, in 6 days, what service! :)

From then on i set to stripping cleaning and repainting everything bit by bit until it reached the stage its at now. Other parts we've fitted include;

Lots ofstainless nuts and bolts

new pto clutch lining and new bearings

new gear lever gaitor

new fuel pump

new rectifier

new wiring loom

new seat

new rear lights

new front tyres

And various other bits and bobs.

So thats about it. all the tin work was good apart from a couple of holes in the bonnet and the left hand cover over the lift lever was rotten at the bottom, so i made a new one. Got it running for the first time last weekend. Ran as sweet as a nut with its new piston and rebuild. Debating wether to fit a volt meter instead of the ammeter. should get the rear fender painted this weekend if i can get the garage warm enough. Took nearly a week for the paint to dry last time i tried it in the cold. Can't wait to get the seat on and take it outside.

Hope I haven't waffled on too long. Cheerio. :woohoo:

Want to paint the rear fender today but it looks too cold! :angry-tappingfoot: . Tis only minus 2 but paint doesnt like being sprayed at that temp. cant be bothered lighting fire as that just melts the frost on inside of roof and drops on wot you've just painted, as i found out the other week, luckily on the other side of the fender which isnt noticable.

Thanks for looking. Ian. :chores-mowlawn:

:flags-wavegreatbritain: Hooray! finally got the rear fender painted. Got fire lit and waited for the temp to rise a bit while i finally had a bit of a tidy up. I even found my bench at last. Managed about three coats of paint. Looks ok at moment, will see wot it looks like in mornin. probably take all week to dry though unless i can bring it into house. Snowin now though so can't carry it across yard.

Anyway heres a few pics. Enjoypost-6158-0-61851600-1328378195.jpgpost-6158-0-85263400-1328378202.jpgpost-6158-0-88538900-1328378207.jpgpost-6158-0-31298900-1328378215.jpg

thats looking real nice.......

i really admire the patience some of you guys have for dealing with trying to get temps up in your work areas to be able to paint.

although i am really blessed with a heated shop, i dont do any painting in it. its all done at work, and with all the ovens around its never cold. one reason why i compromise on a better finish for ease of use with powder coat. i use it because its easy for me, wet spray is far superior in shine and smoothness but i guess im getting lazy as i get older and dont want to deal with all the hassles when i have the ease of powder at work.

plus ive never really been that good at painting anyway............

:UK: Thought i'd post a few updated pics of my c105 resto;post-6158-0-86001200-1330281855.jpg

Finally got it out side and had a little play.

post-6158-0-40384200-1330281861.jpg

Noticed a few minor niggles like loose nuts and bolts etc.

post-6158-0-53562300-1330281870.jpg

All seems ok. Just need to move seat forward a bit. Cant reach pedals properly! :banghead:

Need to repaint fender a some point too. Must have been too cold when i painted it and looks like it may have water in it. Tiny lttle bubbles appear when its cold and damp and makes it feel like sand paper. A bit annoying.

post-6158-0-50181500-1330281876.jpg

Going to paint the rest of my snow blade this week and then just need to wait for warmer weather to fit new decals. Need an urgent tidy of bench too! looks worse than my first post. gonna update pics of that too!

Your :wh: looks very sharp Raider, I like the black chaff screen with the chrome securing bolts, and your new seat looks coooomfy. :)

Did that model have a red bonnet originally or did you prefer red rather than black ? looks good whichever. :twocents-twocents:

Looking to find a new home for my 84 (I think) C-145. It has a dump trailer with the enclosure for leaves, the PTO impeller to get the leafs into the trailer, the hoses for deck-to-impeller, impeller-to-trailer.

I haven’t run it in over a year.
The battery and the cable to the battery probably need to be replaced.
Comes with a new head gasket still in the bag.
Seat is cracked but still comfortable.

Happy to answer questions or take other pictures.

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks
