Results of the Wheel Horse Auction in Versailles, Missouri Yesterday

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

I see the results of the auction of 35 Wheel Horse tractors that was held yesteray in Versailles, Missouri are posted this am on proxybid. Here is the link for folks that may be interested in the prices these tractors went for at the auction.

I bleive there were four NEW OLD STOCK tractors that never had been filled with gasoline. They went very reasonable.

NOS 1973 Auto 12

Most look to have sold for a fair price, many less less that I figured they would sell for, there was a few good deals there.

Those sale prices would have been at least twice that here in the North East!

I too thought the prices were reasonable.

I really don't like auctions...I usually am looking at 1 item, stay there all day to get to that 1 item and it starts out a twice the price I want to pay.

Think there would be warranty on the NOS tractors?!?!

I've been to a few auctions of Wheel Horse collections, and wish I would of gone to this one. The ones I've been to the prices were very reasonable and picked up a few nice items. The prices at this auction seemed even better because of location.

I agree the prices were reasonable and I hope some Red Square members were able to buy a few of these! Either that or hope we recruit some new members from the sale!

WOW!! What a nice collection of tractors. Too bad the auction was so far away from me :banghead: , I would have loved to have gotten one of those D series tractors. I think that most of the tractors, if not all of the tractors, went for very fair prices. Oh well, maybe next time! :)

I wonder how closely Rick watched the auction. Probably made him sick to see then get sold off no matter what the circumstances were.

they all seemed to go for reasonable money except the c-160.

imo that seemed a high price. i guess it depends on how many were bidding on it though.

Things didn't go as I hoped but I'm glad I went and met some great RS members. It was only a 3.5 hour drive for me, even with the nasty sleet/snow that hit the St Louis area early that morning. They all seemed to go reasonable, but the guns brought top dollar in my opinion. If I remember correctly there were 6 NOS tractors(Ranger 700, Commando 800, Raider 8, 10 Automatic, 12 Automatic, & 314-8). I probably should have bid on the NOS 1972 Raider 8 with a NOS belly blade.... I was surprised it sold for only $575 ! A couple of the prices shown on Proxibid were wrong, but not by much. The 18 Auto and the 16 Auto on the front of the trailer aren't mine, I just hauled them back to IL for a fellow RS member who got excited and started bidding - j/k ;) I picked up the big guy on the back of the trailer not too far from the auction......I thought it was a nice addition to the trailer load. Rick wasn't there but his son and daughter were so I'm pretty sure he was able to get a couple of them back into his new collection. I know everyone likes pics so here ya go.....

Went and really enjoyed the auction, They had me start the tractors for them. Thought sale was reasonable or may little cheap for them. Bought two 18 auto's with 3 point and pto . Met some nice red square guys while there too. Hope to meet again, dadstractor ps would not want to sale mine for what they brought . Do hope RV gets back into it big sometime soon.

I cant believe I could have bought 3 18 autos for what I have tied up in this one. Man does that hurt when you can buy 3 working tractors for the price of one that doesnt run and is nothing but a heap of parts..... :angry-banghead:

WOW those were some good prices, but way to far for me. i'd love to have the 73 12 auto. the first wheel horse dad bought was a 73 12 auto, and that tractor and me went through a lot and mowed a lot of grass. but alas dad traded it in for a 417-8. some day i'll find one, just have to be patient.

I rode with brrly1 (John) down to the show...on the way down, we stopped and met up with Smokin'Joe. He had bought 2 of the front weights John was selling.

Here is the rest of the picks that I took...I agree...the guns went for big money...the horses were low to fair...IMO

I counted 8 RS members at the auction...always great to meet top shelf people like this. I had a great time.
