GlenPettit 1,716 #28 Posted February 5, 2012 Meadowfield: You've got nice big Lugs on there, I don't think chains would really help you much; but putting more weight on it would really help the most, best inside the rear tires, (inside, low, center), and some extra weight in the front would greatly improve steering control, - - - for a total of 100 to 200 kg. wheeledhorseman 574 #30 Posted February 9, 2012 Hey, you guys have all had sooo much fun. We just got rain last time where I am in Hampshire when it snowed everywhere else. Tonight it's snowing in Hampshire and settling but I doubt we'll get all that much. Does't really matter as I haven't got a plow. But..... there's a tractor with one up and ending this weekend and not far away so I'm going to have a serious go for it so I can join in and experience the fun. Never know but I might get lucky. farmer 1,075 #31 Posted February 9, 2012 Good luck on your quest Andy, it's a useful attachment, (with a rubber edge) I've used mine to clean up behind the Mrs's horses. Set up, you can even sweep up hedge trimmings......saves a lot of work. + They are fun in the snow. :occasion-snowman:
wheeledhorseman 574 #32 Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for the tips re the alternative uses, the Mrs knows I'm going to get a snow plow one day and she keeps ponies so I'll bear these in mind if the need arises. About an inch of snow fell during the night and it was still around in the morning both in Romsey and out at the barn in the New Forest. Nothing like the amount we've had in the previous two winters, but enough to make things look pretty and to try out a snow plow if only I had one. Oh well, there's nothing like mowin' in the snow. Seriously, I did think about trying it but as I've just spent hours de-rusting and painting the underside of the deck it would have been a silly thing to do. I did seriously consider changing the deck for an old one I've got so that I could give it a try but the snow was already beginning to melt so decided it wasn't a good way to spend my time. It did make me wonder though if it wouldn't be possible to hang a modified SD deck on the front of the D-200 when I get round to finishing it and make an improvised snow blower.
