xring1 2 #1 Posted January 26, 2012 The float valve is sticking. I have had the carb off about 8 times to make sure the valve is free and moving ok when the float moves. Seems to work fine and when I put the carb back on... no fuel to the bowl. Take the carb off blow thru the fuel inlet and sure enough it is stuck and if I blow hard it will pop loose. the rubber tip on the valve/ needle looks fine as well as the seat. Fuel is pumping fine This has got me stumped
MrHorseMan 0 #2 Posted January 26, 2012 I would put a new needle and seat kit in it, I know on the newer stuff the ethanol is doing the same thing to all the new carbs, clean them all you want and they still stick.
xring1 2 #3 Posted January 26, 2012 Ok Now I got the float valve so it does not stick and the bowl filling but evidently the engine is still not getting fuel . When I take the carb off and turn it upside down fuel is flowing out of the bowl thru the main fuel jet and out of the carb so I know that is clear I dump gas in the carb and it runs...put hand over carb and it has plenty of vacuum Still stumped :banghead:
Rollerman 290 #4 Posted January 26, 2012 Are you sure your getting gas to the carb? Is the fuel inlet on the carb clear?
smoreau 658 #5 Posted January 26, 2012 I had a similar problem with a c81 and I removed the inlet elbow off the carb and cleaned that out also, installed a second gasket, needle and seat kit and it was fine after that. You might have a small piece of rubber from the fuel line stuck up under the seat that blocks fuel from getting into the bowl.
